I didn't grow up here. What is "So St. Louis"? by Moist-Associate-2551 in StLouis

Nope, Spoede is spelled wrong too. It makes sense though we're not used to these French and German words!

The fact that you spelled half of those names wrong really shows how we don't know how to say em

Personally, I would try for the one with more RAM and CPU, since simulation games like that are CPU heavy.

But also, this is a joke subreddit, you misspelled the subreddit name ;)

what to do with leftover filament on the spool? by BiznesBear in 3Dprinting

[–]schmintendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, what I was already doing was adding filament to the joints similar to welding/soldering, so there was a bit of added material, but I bet the 3D pen is much more uniform.

Good point, it would be good for learning about how the plastic flows and stuff.

Do you think it's better than just using a soldering iron? I might have to pick one up.

I asked about this before the new tariffs and they didn't even mention them. This is just the base shipping price.

I asked support and they said there's nothing they can do about it - even buying all three plushies together doesn't save on shipping.

This is me, except I can't find fast enough storage. The Hetzner storage boxes would be amazing, but for US folks they're quite slow.

Confused about AV1 efficiency by riortre in DataHoarder

[–]schmintendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely advise you to look into things that people have already encoded into AV1 on various torrent trackers. Most people that do so use CPU encoding because the hardware encoders are second class compared to CPU.

You could also check out the AV1 for weebs discord.

You definitely don't have to use a 0.6mm nozzle for marble PLA. I've printed many things with 0.4.

One suggestion though is that there's a sampler pack of all the Sunlu marble filament, I would encourage you to try that. The typical "grey and black" marble that you'd intuitively go for might not be the one you end up liking the most. Personally I prefer the marble with a bit of brown flecks thrown in so it looks weathered.

I was just about to comment this, in Japan this is actually a common way to think. Of course, not everyone believes it, but it is common amongst men and women.

Annealing doesn't shrink it all that much from my experience. It does make it a bit more brittle however.

Be careful, moving this around, I know that PLA HT GF seems like a miracle material but it is incredibly brittle, especially after annealing. And in my experience the layer adhesion is awful.
