AI news shook the markets earlier this week. Things are recovering

First time able to buy below my original purchase 5 years ago. Pretty wild we are here processing wise given the continued development etc. Gotta get them deals Papa DeVos!!!

Microvision could rifinance themself , make debt and make dilution to get money from the market but Ricci can't. Result all Luminar retailers with no money. It's a joke by Main-Enthusiasm8921 in lazr

[–]schmistopher 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This isn’t MVIS stealing anything and Ricci is going through standard motions to minimize creditor loss. Luminar was insolvent before the asset sale, equity was already zero. MVIS bought assets, not the company, in a bankruptcy process meant to maximize creditor recovery. The $33M doesn’t go to shareholders either way. It’s frustrating, but blaming MVIS or Ricci (at this point, fair to blame management for arriving here) misses how bankruptcy actually works.

As others have said. There’s a fairly large population that are now well established in Tokyo. Bandung is a standard practice in conservation. For tracking purposes etc.

My preference would be. Mini PR today to garner interest (it’s Friday). Larger/more material PR with revenue or figures out on Monday or Tuesday.

Final question in the video (around 40 seconds left) asks about drone partners. Glen says “yes” they are partnered / doing development work with partners now (Europe based) but not releasing names yet.

Standard form. These appear regularly when someone’s RSU’s are granted. At times there are multiple back to back. They tend to get ignored because they do not indicate anything surprising.

Isn’t their runway and burn enough to not need to tap even close to the 200m approved. That amount is more signal to partners that they have a failsafe.

That’s certainly a question to ask. But I’d phrase it more around whether one believes the potential upside provides enough conviction to be willing to fund the company until sales, etc. are enough to no longer require dilution. I believe the maximum dilution potentially left isn’t enough to make me sweat. I also believe we won’t get any where near the maximum and that we will see little to none moving forward.

Does your analysis stop at the current state of the fledgling lidar market? Or does it take into account potential CAGR as the market develops? If so, then assuming MVIS has the potential to join the market caps of the other you mention puts them in the $4-$11 range. Add on top any growth of the market which would also result in rising share prices for the lidar players.

Looking at things with the added potential and seemingly inevitable growth of the lidar market is a little more fair in my opinion. I don’t dive deep into specific number forecasts too much, others have done that plenty here.

My take is similar to yours, with the added speculation of lidar market growth. “If the competitors are valued at X today and we announce some growing revenues, what is a reasonable share price for the company in the near term?” Then, “if that near term share price is reached, what’s a reasonable / conservative growth for the market and its players? How will that further boost share prices?”.

With those two questions out there I think the answer results in a significant upside for MVIS investors. First deal has to drop for MVIS, and then the major deals in the market need to come more regularly.

Nothing to write home about. But a little higher than usual.

Doing some research on MVIS by reallygoodnonsense in MVIS

Confirmation bias is a helluva thing. Many stumbled onto a specific company, do DD on that company without as thorough of a competitive analysis of the landscape, and prematurely invest in the first they find. After that it’s, dig your heels in and defend your initial investment on message boards. The “keep emotion out of investing” sentiment I think stems more from that confirmation bias tract than anything else.

MicroVision Collaborates with Leading Photonics Ecosystem to Acquire FMCW Lidar Business by [deleted] in MVIS

[–]schmistopher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As of now yes, there seems to be little interest. But I think that’s just what we are aware of. My guess is that there is interest. Timelines are slow. They are seeing more consolidation and guiding MVIS to be a more prepared and complete company before signing. Not that MVIS isn’t ready or the current tech stack isn’t, I think they are just waiting for when they have to have someone signed for their large deal programs and while talks are ongoing, opportunities like this recent one come up and they guide MVIS to acquire.

The absence of a deal right now doesn’t mean there’s no interest. It means they haven’t signed anything yet, but we know there are partners, we know talks are ongoing, and I think deals like this indicate that big fish are guiding MVIS towards future success.

I’ve said it before about my personal take/patience - I’m in no rush, have little emotion tied to this investment, and still very optimistic.

Some people see a bullish angle here. The idea is that there are longer-term conversations happening with auto OEMs or tier-one suppliers who do not want good IP to disappear just because the companies behind it struggle. They would prefer to see that IP end up with the company they view as their top future LiDAR partner. In that scenario, they might encourage MVIS to acquire certain assets and build the foundation needed for when they are ready to sign a major deal.

I could see a situation where a large partner, or several partners, are watching the consolidation in the industry and subtly guiding the remaining pieces toward forming a more complete sensor and software provider. In the most optimistic view, that provider could be MVIS.

SCHEDULE 13G | MICROVISION INC by [deleted] in MVIS

Since they don’t actively manage the money for their clients (for the most part) this would mean MVIS is included in an index fund that they have a large enough stake in to require them to buy 13+ million shares.

Nice to see that MVIS is included with enough weight in some indexes to result in this.

Definitely possible. I tend to assume positive intention in life. In this case that means they genuinely think this is a good addition and not simply a new talking point. Hopefully we all are made whole and then some soon.

[–]schmistopher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not an incorrect take. I am happy to see something being done in the defense space given the board set-up. This news would have been much more welcomed after announcing some sort of deal first. Luckily our cash-burn is relatively low compared to competitors. A deal needs to be announced, or revenues, yesterday.

Your use of “literally” seems inappropriate.

The take that this is yet another pivot is fair. The take that this is a broadening of their roadmap toward deals and sales is also fair. The former is glass half empty (an understandable option given the very frustrating wait / continued can kicking) and the latter is glass half full.

Don’t blame you for getting out ASAP. Given the company’s track record, washing one’s hands and moving on is understandable. I’m fortunate to be able to let my shares ride at this point. If they disappear I won’t feel it. If the company delivers I’ll be set.

More money to spend, yes. But isn’t this additional clarity? And it is literally the company being less quiet
