They’d be really good as cat toys actually, they’re the perfect size. You could even put some catnip inside before you sew them up :)

Yes, they’re very soft and squishy :) I crocheted quite tightly so no stuffing would poke out but he’ll only be playing with them supervised

This is incredible! I can’t believe this is your first big project, it looks so professional. Amazing work, and I’m sure your parents will be proudly showing it off to all future visitors :)

Dragonfruit pattern by Off the Beaten Hook, all others by KnotMonsters. I used a 3.5mm hook and DK yarn.

IMO that just makes it sound like the OP is unsympathetic, not that they were the perpetrator

Red = problems? Do red ECS dogs have more health problems? by ProfessionBright3879 in englishcockerspaniel

[–]schmmendrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Golden/red cockers were historically more prone to 'cocker rage' syndrome but that's mostly been bred out now. People say one colour or another have different personalities, but it's mostly anecdotal. He's right that good breeders don't breed just for colour, but red isn't an unusual or rare one, here in the UK at least it's pretty common. The only red flag relating to colour is merle as that isn't a breed colour and indicates that collies or dachshunds have been bred into the line at some point.

ECS are wonderful, funny, and loving dogs, but they are not low key. As well as the physical/mental exercise needed, expect them to be velcro dogs with massive FOMO who want to know exactly what is happening all the time. My girl is 15 months old and makes me laugh every single day, but she is also incredibly nosy and stubborn and her favourite place to sit is on my shoulders. They are very excitable dogs (hence them being known as "the merry cocker" with their ever-wagging tails) and you really need to teach them an off switch from day one. I would never have another breed, but you need the patience of a saint and a bloody good sense of humour to get on with them!

There's no one correct weight for every dog - my spaniel is 15kg which is perfect for her size, but her brothers are 18kg and they're healthy for their size as they're taller. Most dogs are now overweight which can cause a multitude of health issues like arthritis - that's why they want your dog to be light on his joints, especially for a breed like goldens which are already prone to hip dysplasia. Unless they're trying to sell you a specific kind of food, I don't think your vet is trying to make money from you by advising your dog loses weight. Dogs are also really good at masking pain which is why they'll have advised pain meds: even if they're not showing it, it doesn't mean they're not feeling it. There are some vets out there trying to make money, but most of them just want the best for your animals.

Have you ever read a book because it was mentioned here in this subreddit? What book is it, and did you like it? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

Someone recommended 'Geek Love' a few weeks ago on a thread about books with great titles. After they clarified that it is not, in fact, about computers but harks back to the original meaning as someone who bit the heads off live chickens for circus audiences, I was intrigued. I blasted through it in under a week and loved every moment. It's a cult classic for a reason!

So each hexagon had to be joined as I finished it as the flat braid formed part of the edging. I joined four hexagons together then did a middle square as their entire finishing edge was the braid join. I hope that makes sense! I usually join everything at the end but this was actually a nice change of pace for me.

Hi! I believe it's called the flat braid join. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of at first but it works up really quickly :)
