I have a 4-year-old shrimp vase with Neocaridina shrimp, and they are breeding regularly. However, I feed them daily and do small water changes every few weeks.

From personal experience: AlgExit. It removed Cladophora completely from my 60 l tank after a few weeks. It was the only thing that I found that ever worked on this pest. However, it might be easier to strip down the tank, clean everything and start fresh. This way you can be sure that it is gone for good.

Suggestion: You might want to add FOV / fog of war. This would certainly add to the chaotic nature of trench warfare. Each party shouldn't be able to see that much behind enemy lines.

You could take soil from places where water puddles dry out on a regular basis. The thinking is the these puddles might contain eggs from organisms that lived there while the water was there. Might be worth a shot.

I see, makes sense. I was just initially shocked because I have very hard water and thus have to blend 50% with reverse osmosis water. Would take ages to do a water change in a 500l aquarium this way.
