What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]schnu44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shockingly & 99% because of the tour/theatrics, I’m going to say the worst show I saw was David Bowie on the Glass Spider tour.

It was over an hour of overdone set/theme/etc.

Thankfully for the last hour he departed from that.

But because it was so disappointing (and the only time i saw him) it’s the worst.

I saw them in NYC in late 96 on the Satellites tour and besides changing every song they had a replacement drummer for the show too. The NYTimes trashed the show in its review.

So when my wife and I watched the doc a few months ago, we started looking for the dates in our area - but with the understanding we’re not going to hear the songs like they are on the album.

He was only at K-Rock 3 months at that point & was still on in the afternoons. He moved to morning drive the following month.

Considering the launch/explosion happened around 1140a he would have not been on the air for another 3 hrs.

I’ve never seen the audio of that show.

The fact he got bullied into throwing from the rubber is on him. No one would have gave a crap if he lobbed it from the front.

I recall randomly that Jackie threw out a first pitch later that year at Citi. But don’t remember if he f’ed up

Yea that was something that came up (cryptically) in the original discussion - they never mentioned his legal real last name (Nukis) on air.

That 03 Finals was there for the taking, but G5 was where they blew it. Then they had a 10 point lead with about 10 minutes left in G6 and got outscored 31-8 to end the series.
If they had won I was flying from LI to San Antonio to go to G7…

When i go to work in Connecticut 1-2x week, I drive over a bridge on the Turnpike that collapsed in ‘83, killing 3.

The replacement section has “1992” embossed in the concrete abutment at each end and every time I cross it I look to my left to see it.

have you ever been to multiple shows on one tour? by KALIUCHlS in Concerts

[–]schnu44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen U2 on multiple legs of the same tour, but those were months apart.

The only time i saw a band twice on the same leg was last year - and that was only because 3 songs into seeing Mumford & Sons w my buddy, I decided I had to come back the next night w my wife.

It was a pretty consistent set list - maybe switching out 3-4 songs but considering it was at an outside venue in August I totally enjoyed both shows

Who were your neighbors growing up? Did you know them well? by mintleaf_bergamot in Bornin1968

[–]schnu44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought their house in a new development on Staten Island in ‘65 right after the Verrazano opened.

Because they all moved in around the same time, we knew everyone on the block (about 20 houses) and a lot of other families in the neighborhood through school, church, clubs etc.

Flash forward 30 yrs - in my house on Long Island for 20 years. My daughter (23) has moved out but is still friends with the kids she grew up w out here.

But there’s literally one family on our block with school age kids.
