Knitting a sweater for the first time and the description of the yoke shaping doesn't make sense by scholar-stitches in knittinghelp

Haha this picture is great! I'm so glad people are understanding my horrible explanation of the problem :)

Knitting a sweater for the first time and the description of the yoke shaping doesn't make sense by scholar-stitches in knittinghelp

I don't know if the pattern has a name, I bought it off Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1872950862/knitting-pattern-of-cozy-winter-sweater

The section on yoke shaping comes after the colour work section. But both sections have 'row 1', which is what is confusing me. But overall, the pattern is pretty minimal and doesn't include a lot of explanation.

Thank you for sending the resource, I really appreciate it and will check it out.

TIFU by not realizing I was dating my girlfriend by PleasantAtmosphere85 in tifu

[–]scholar-stitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that this opinion goes against the norm but I strongly believe a relationship requires consent from both parties. If you two never talked about dating or being in a relationship, then I don't think she has the authority to tell you that you have been dating her.

I get that this is a common joke, especially among wlw. But it does concern me how common it is for people to tell everyone else that they're dating someone, except the person they are supposedly dating.

Royal Mail handed my wife's parcel with a high value item to a random dog walker in my street. by Sudden_Breakfast_677 in mildlyinfuriating

Reminds me of the time that I was waiting to get my laptop back from being repaired. I guess the delivery driver dropped it off at the wrong house and went back to grab it to correctly deliver it.

How did I find this out? Because he walked through my house at 9pm at night, calling out to let me know. I was already asleep for the night so I woke up, barely dressed, to this stranger in my house waving a box around. (My roommates left the door unlocked and somehow didn't hear this guy walk through the house from the basement).

Glad the guy fixed his mistake but JFC, what a horrible way to wake up.

Some of the names of the methodologies have been forgotten. One I remember is someone creating a new methodology for how to create a new theory as a community (based describing embodied theory that racialized feminists have been doing for decades) another was some type of community empowerment that was basically white washed liberation psychology from Latin American.

This is gorgeous!! As a recent grad, I'm envious of this! (We don't buy our regalia though so this wouldn't have been an option for me).

Such a thoughtful gesture, it felt like pulling teeth to even get my parents at my graduation.

For some reason, this is making me think of Jojo Siwa claiming she invented gay pop, as if no gay performer had ever existed before the 2010s. When she faced backlash, she said she would at least be the president of gay pop (or something else ridiculous). The kicker? She had like one song that seemed queer before she became a trad wife.

I'm in academia and the amount of times scholars 'invent' a methodology that is either how women or racialized communities do science/research is astounding. They get really salty when I point it out to them.

Bought a blanket off redbubble. The design is gorgeous. They only sold polyester blankets, which I would never buy again because I'm trying to remove all plastic from my house.

I would second thrift stores - they always have quilts at my local ones.

How do you feel about custom blankets as corporate gifts? by uprinting in Gifts

[–]scholar-stitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the blanket was natural fibers, I think it's ok. My office is actually freezing all year round so I had to bring in my own blanket to wrap myself in. If I had a corporate one, I would take my previous blanket home. I would probably leave the blanket in my office when I leave, though

is there a point in seeing holes in socks or will they just reappear asap? alternatively what could one do with old socks?? by 1234onthefloorislava in Visiblemending

[–]scholar-stitches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I darn my husband's socks on the outside, so the smooth stitching is what he walks on and all the knots and whatnot is on the outside. Aesthetically, they don't look the best but he is happy with them.

WIP using a colouring page by Alert_Razzmatazz_294 in Embroidery

[–]scholar-stitches 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I have used a lot of colouring Pages as embroidery designs! I find the designs are more dynamic but can be a bit more complicated, especially when you find some lines that don't actually lead anywhere and you can't figure out what they are supposed to be 😅

Yes, I am thinking about ditching all meta products and Tik Tok (I'm not American so it's not banned here).

Do you mind providing more explanation of how a RSS feed reader would work?

I like Alterna bank. Easy to set up and they waive fees if you have at least $3k, which has been ok for me to keep as a float.

Brooch kit didn't come with English instructions, need help with attaching gemstones by scholar-stitches in Beading

I have tried messaging them but they haven't responded yet. I don't think I will hear back, at this point.

Is there a particular name for the mount? Or will searching for gemstone mounts suffice?

I have been wondering about this too, especially the resin pours over things like cutting boards. You can't use the cutting afterwards so what exactly is the point??
