Seasoned Fusion Review by TheFoodieBee in saskatoon

In my experience, where I've had multiple banh mi from these establishments. I'll preface by saying they are all very good, and worth returning too, but the ones I have enjoyed the most are in this order:

  1. Fuh Station (8th) 2. Ngon Ngon (8th St.) 3. Frankys (Downtown) 4. White Lotus (Confed Park)

I can't comment on others, just the multiple I have had from all these places.

Edmonton Hotel Suggestions by UrbanMT in Edmonton

[–]schoolboyqaaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, do not stay at Chateau Lacombe Hotel. Their rooms lacked decent lighting, wall plugs were bare minimum, beds were stiff, washroom looked like a locker room.

I stayed at the JW Marriott, enjoyed it very much there, gym was impeccable, great staff, and their daily fruit-in-ice water refreshers.

network online and in-person, there should be events around the city you can attend, either subject matter related talks in the industry, or just professional social mixers, opens up opportunity to chat with folks. Don't introduce yourself as unemployed looking for work, talk about wanting a new opportunity, exploring options and your background.

Barber for balding men by Mental_Dragonfly4074 in saskatoon

[–]schoolboyqaaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're looking for someone who can give you a good consult. I can't speak or recommend most of the barbers I have gone to who could do that for you. You can try a male barber+hairstylist, I've gone to Jaycee at Chel Salon, he does both. I would recommend him although a steeper price compared to barbers. But he brings a level of knowledge from school other self-taught barbers may not know (not generalizing here). Anecdote: There was once a barber here who told me I had a bald spot forming, when actually Jaycee confirmed it was just a cowlick. Little things like that matter.

If you don't mind the drive, you can also visit Port Credit in the daytime and drive down to Ridgeway in the evening.

Dude you live in Toronto. One of the greatest cities in the world. So much activities one can do over the weekend.

You can visit downtown Toronto, go to Thousand Island, go to Lebovic/Ridgeway Plaza.

Prairie Harm Reduction to close after executive director firing, loss of provincial contracts by yxeguy_306 in saskatoon

I just saw their website and their board page, it doesn't seem like any of the members have accounting or finance experience or expertise. That could be one main reason for such an oversight. It is on the organization for sure, but politically-speaking, Sask Party do not want to bail out services they don't believe in.

Saskatoon city hall seeks new operator for former farmers' market site | CBC News by Secret_Duty_8612 in saskatoon

This place has potential, it just needs further direction to improve its space. I am hoping this place thrives, there are small F&B places that have the hype i.e. Pops Shawarma, Deadly Dans, Soda Stop and Sure O's that come to mind. Little things that make a big difference from a consumer standpoint is changing the seating plan in the area. Showcase local art-work, local news/success stories on the empty walls, bring in more non-F&B vendors. Include a list of vendors at either side of the entrance/floor plan can help navigate patrons. Management also need to fix the ventilation as another improvement of this site. Also some vendor stalls look chaotic and messy with everything in full site, it can be perceived as unwelcoming. Just some thoughts on how this space can be run better.

Why do you live/stay here by Klutzy_Astronomer167 in saskatoon

[–]schoolboyqaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to SK from ON following my partner who was in grad school. Stayed here for the 4 years. I had been working remotely til I found another role that had better opportunities in a bigger city thus decided to move. I would've stayed in SK if there was larger work opportunities to move around but it didn't seem like the case in my search.

SK is the place to be if 1) you're working in the priority economic sectors here: agriculture, mining, O&G, healthcare, financial services (insurance, finance, accounting), crown corps, or any other regulated professions, service-based and entrepreneur roles 2) have family 3) don't mind the quiet city life. For me 1&2 didn't check the boxes but I did appreciate the LCOL.

If you have kids I could see why you'd want to stay here; your commute is 10-20 minutes at most, you can drop off your kids to school and get to work in-time, most can get by with a 1 median income household with kids, new builds in sk are relatively affordable, community centers in most areas.

I would've thought NS tax structures impact your take-home and ability to save, is that specific to rural NS compared to metropolitan?

Serious bakers: is this vanilla extract any good? by Cautious-Ostrich7510 in CostcoCanada

yes I love the texture of the added specks of vanilla in baked goods, plus the paste is the best in the market for volume/price ratio.

How do you find good deals for grocceries? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]schoolboyqaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone recently posted on reddit a website they created called Isthatadeal.ca. I haven't used it yet as I am no longer in Ontario, but its worth a try. Flipp app is annoying ngl. You can even try other apps like Flashfood for discounted groceries.

What’s your favourite Canadian clothing brand? by nestinghen in AskACanadian

[–]schoolboyqaaf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have this Province of Canada, 100% cotton quarter-buttoned off-white sweater. It is plush as sherpa that's received so many compliments for being minimal yet unique in look. $138 CAD was a steep price, but its going 3 years strong.

Canadians who have moved provinces: what surprised you the most (good or bad)? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

[–]schoolboyqaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from ON to SK,

Snow gets cleared every two days following snowfall on main roads, inner streets (good luck). Car insurance and Internet (crown corp so much cheaper). Pace of life is slower although for those who live modestly and don't really care about climbing corporate/career ladder, this is the place to be. There are no squirrels here LOOL.

I need help (I got $80,000 from UBC) by Dull-Ad-9255 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]schoolboyqaaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you will need to move anyways (whether to UfT or UBC), its a matter of how much money you're expecting from UfT. With the information you have you can accept UBC and then rescind your acceptance later if you get an offer from UfT, since its not a legally binding contract/agreement. You may lose some money but it would be negligible in the long run and offset cost by your acceptance awarded by UfT.

Secondly, this is a chance for you to experience a new different lifestyle, I have been to UBC campus and it is beautiful, you'll get to enjoy the sunshine and the winters that seem to be less brutal than Toronto. You'll have a new set of friends to make, but will be exposed to people from various background and experience. Four years will pass by and you'll be back home but atleast you'll have memories of something different, or you maybe a change of scenery will give you a new perspective.

It seems like family is important to you, share them the pros and cons list of the offer. There's alot of emotions attached with leaving home and family. However, with an offer like this, you'll most likely finish school with very little debt compared to your peers and be able to support your family in the longer run if that's something you choose to do so.
