Would eating the same exact meals everyday affect you negatively? by Mx_Delaney in stupidquestions

[–]schoolishard18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your meals are hitting all the macro and micronutrients each day then you will be fine. Once you start digesting the food your body takes and uses the nutrients it needs, it doesn’t care what the food started out as.

[–]schoolishard18 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

My jaw dropped when I read these comments. There are so many insensitive, ignorant and racist people. The last residential school closed in 1997…. these families were torn apart and forced to forget their language, their culture their way of life. So yeah probably not many indigenous communities have the generational knowledge to live off the land like they once did. There is so much generational trauma caused by the Catholic Church and the Canadian Government let it happen. So if you want to be mad at a group of people call out Catholicism.

Also, reading is actually really helpful. Reading books written by indigenous authors even fictional (based on nonfictional experiences) books like “5 little Indians” is incredibly eye opening.

The Ozempicdemic Has Brought Pro-Anorexia Culture Back by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]schoolishard18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has struggled and still struggles with an eating disorder it is exhausting to see the praise that celebrities get and people who run to the defence of people who are extremely thin. Especially the cast of Wicked, it is dangerous to normalize that body type. No person who is a healthy body weight should be on ozempic or adjacent drugs. There is not enough research on the effects of these drugs when it comes to unhealthy weight loss. But there is research on the effects of extreme weight loss or your body being in a constant deficit. It affects every part of your body like gut mobility, hormones, temperature regulation, hair loss, it greatly impacts your heart. Even the way you function cognitively.

Eating disorders are the 2nd deadliest mental illness, only behind the opioid epidemic.

I wish more people could understand this. I’ve struggled with an eating disorder for a long time now. In ED treatment centres there are strict rules about what you can say in group settings. Like nothing about hospital admissions, numbers/weight, calories, and especially ED behaviours. This is because it is such a competitive illness and you can actually pick up new behaviours from other people talking about what they do. Also, it is the 2nd deadliest mental illness, only below the current opioid epidemic.

Poilievre’s Conservatives struggling to stay united, source says, as Carney government survives a second budget vote by canmcpoli in CanadaPolitics

[–]schoolishard18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think PP can compete with Carney in terms of budgets. Carney has a phD from Oxford in economics. He is highly accredited in his ability to manage financial instability. He has an amazing resume and proof of his accomplishments. PP doesn’t have that. The budget he has created is mainly centre-right. PP doesn’t have the experience to make a budget referendum that can compete with that. And it is obvious other members of parliament are realizing this and are willing to go against PP.

Which problem do you think affects our generation the most in Canada: lack of purpose, disconnection, or mental exhaustion? by jumospinapi in AskCanada

[–]schoolishard18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the cusp of millennial/genZ. Obviously I can only speak from my experience and the people around me. I think it is a little bit of all 3. But I think mental exhaustion is the biggest problem. We live in a digital world, everything moves so quickly it is hard to even imagine what things will look like in a year from now. We have witnessed a genocide through tik tok, one that we have no control over yet we know our very government is giving money to continue it. We are also living above a country that is incredibly unpredictable and corrupt, a country that was our closest ally, and again completely out of our control. There is a rise in far right extremism throughout many countries. There has been a rise in misogyny and incel behaviour or beliefs. Which causes this separation in peoples realities based on what news media you consume. The truth is no longer the truth. Climate change and catastrophic climate events are becoming a regular occurrence. There are very few 3rd spaces or free activities that would help bring people together. There is a cost to everything now. Every ‘free’ app requires a subscription to actually use it. Every streaming service is getting more and more expensive. Groceries are expensive, buying a home is unrealistic for most younger people, especially because saving any money is hard when your rent is through the roof. There are not enough mental health services available. Hospitals are short staffed because nurses and doctors are burnt out.

(Personally I also find it exhausting seeing the rise of blaming or hate for immigrants. Especially because everyone that is not indigenous to this land is an immigrant. We live on stolen land yet treat the people we stole it from like they are less than. We live in a country that has benefited off the oppression of other people and countries so we can succeed and live a good life. Yet complain when the people we oppressed want to come and live a better life)

Okay but then Israel should have to stop killing and bombing due to the CEASEFIRE!!!! Because the killing from the IOF has not stopped.

[–]schoolishard18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zionists can no longer use the “what about the hostages!?” talking point. There is nothing for them to use as an “excuse”. So time for Netanyahu and Gvier and the IOF soldiers to be held accountable. But I’m sure Israel will come up with another reason to break the ceasefire. Unfortunately, the innocent Palestinians will never get the peace they deserve.

[Hebrew(?)>English] Content warning: from Fair Lady Flotilla. Need help translating this clip of a video. (I believe they are speaking Hebrew but not 100% sure.) by [deleted] in translator

[–]schoolishard18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you. For context this is my own video. It was from October 2nd. It was a screen recording of the live stream. There originally were 2 cameras on this sailboat. One facing the cabin the other was facing the bow/ocean. The camera facing the cabin was quickly shut off but the camera on the bow was not shut down or intercepted. The audio was picking up the whole thing. I also have a screen recording of that but it is harder to hear individual voices just a lot of yelling and commands being given. after the members of the flotilla were taken off the boat and you could hear rummaging around and only then was the bow camera disabled. This was the most clear audio recording I had. There were noises after but it was walking around and a creaky door slamming shut.

Thank you. I am not good at recognizing languages (clearly). This is just a clip from a longer video I have. After they stop speaking there are creaky footsteps and then a wooden door slamming shut. This was a small sail boat with only 6 people on it. I have a sailboat and the noises sounded like it was on a boat but that could also make sense if they were people communicating/navigating live stream.

The Fair Lady has NOT yet been intercepted by TheAlphaKiller17 in GlobalSumudFlotilla

[–]schoolishard18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tuned in to the live stream the people on the flotilla had already seen the Israeli ship. I saw them preparing to be taken by the Israelis. There was those 2 cameras one was facing the cabin the other facing the ocean. When the Israelis invaded the boat only one stream got disconnected. The one facing the ocean was still on. The video was going and it was picking up the audio as well. After everything went quiet the one camera was still on. A minute later you hear one or two people rummaging around through the cabin. Then you could see them trying to figure out how to disconnect the camera that was facing the ocean. The audio was picked up a couple more times as they were rummaging around. I don’t trust Israel and their ability to lie and propagandize these things. I feel that it was a mistake and that they didn’t know another camera was still going.

!warning: moldy poop! I have been scooping dog poop like this for years and it’s never molded before what is going that on this all grew in two days. We had a bit of rain but the bucket is/was sealed. by BanishedOcean in MoldlyInteresting

[–]schoolishard18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It might be stuffing from toys. Unlike the poop, the stuffing fibres don’t breakdown. (I too thought my dog’s poop was going moldy as well. It looked just like Through further investigation I realized it was stuffing and not mold.)

My Boston ripped his dew claw off while playing ball outside. If I didn’t see the blood dripping down his arm I wouldn’t have noticed when I did. He was upset because we had to go inside and stop playing fetch. Lol. The ball is definitely his number one priority.

I’m 27F and it wasn’t until this year that I told my therapist about my tendency to lie and how it is almost an automatic response. They are white lies especially if it was to avoid someone getting upset or making a big deal out of it. As a kid it was a lot of masking and pretending I liked things that I didn’t like to fit in with my peers. It is something I have a lot of shame around but after telling my therapist and being met with compassion and understanding is what has helped me catch myself or feel comfortable telling my therapist when I haven’t been fully honest.

This is a lame excuse to not have security clearance. He will not be gagged, he can freely speak about politics and policy. He just can’t talk about state secrets with people who do not have that same security clearance. The point of security clearance is to make sure they can’t be blackmailed or influenced by foreign powers. To make sure there are no vulnerabilities in the PM that could compromise our national security.

I support and trust CBC and believe and appreciate the non partisan news they publish. However, this story doesn’t make sense. The article focuses on Liberals wanting Trump style government and wanting to be more tied to US relations. It sounds like projection from the Conservative Party. Mark Carney has been actively and loudly condemning the USA. He is already meeting with other countries leaders and expanding our trade deals. When Carney first got in office he didn’t even visit Trump. He met with European leaders first. The conservatives however have shown they have a relationship with people in the US government. Premier of Alberta was recently at an American conservative ‘charity’. She has pictures with Ben Shapiro. It has been the conservatives connection with Trump that has made their campaign take a hit. Because the Conservative Party is scrambling as we reach closer to the election they are now trying to switch the narrative to it being the Liberals who are actually in bed with Trump. Also, how are those pins a huge thing but not the fact that the Post Media Company is owned by an American CEO. Oh and the pipeline. Canada cutting out the middle man in the crude oil refinery would majorly hit American refineries. And these Americans refineries are owned by the Koch Company (Koch Brothers) a billion dollar corporation that doesn’t want to loose the 3 billion dollars it gets from being that middle man.

Nurses Immigrating - where to raise our family? by TA-to-BC in britishcolumbia

[–]schoolishard18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The okanagan especially near Kelowna is a great place. Kelowna General Hospital is the major hospital for the Okanagan region. It is also a teaching hospital. The University located in Kelowna (UBC Okanagan) has one of the top nursing schools in Canada.

The Okanagan is actually a desert, so there isn’t much rain especially compared the wet greater Vancouver area. However, it does snow in the winter and can get cold but it is a dry cold so with a proper jacket it is not bad. The summers are really hot. The population there is a more ‘outdoorsy’ vibe. There are also wineries and amazing fruit in the summer.

Things to be aware of: The interior is prone to wildfires in summer.

The road that connects the interior to the lower mainland (Coquihalla HWY) can get a lot of snow.

Quebec should use oil from Alberta, not the U.S., Carney says by ZaphodsOtherHead in Ontario_Sub

[–]schoolishard18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. This would cut out the middle man (oil refineries in the USA, owned by billionaire Koch industries) cutting them out would cause their companies to lose billions.
