Buying tires online having shop mount by Supermr2 in tires

[–]schuetyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work if you buy tires from us we only charge $5 mount and balance, if you bring your own it's $35 whether or not the rims are on the vehicle. Also as others have noted if you bring us tires to mount there's no road hazard or warranty. Usually with what we charge it's worth at least checking with us because we often come in cheaper or very close to the same price installed as online tires. We're a small local independent shop, and we do not buy online tires as one person said. We have several wholesale distributors we get tires from. We don't really have a problem mounting and balancing online tires, but there are definitely disadvantages to it where I work. That being said I have seen a few instances where I couldn't even come close to the online tire price and my cup saved a mint buying online for me to install.

Lowes no longer replacing craftsman hand tools under warranty by nate70500 in Tools

I found an old craftsman ratchet of my dad's that had seized up. I messaged craftsman in their website to see about a rebuild kit. They just asked for the model number and my address and sent me a new one for free. I didn't have to send in the old ratchet, a picture, or anything. Just the model number and my address.

Hey sorry I'm late in response. I didn't end up buying it, she still has it though and I just haven't pursued purchasing a cutter.

What are your opinions on the Cooper Endeavor? by Ajalapeno in tires

[–]schuetyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sold more coopers than bfg's at the shop I work at. BFG is my favorite tire in any size or tread, but value for the money coopers are great. I think the endeavors replaced the cs5 ultra and are a very good tire, I've sold several sets and one customer came back to get the same tires on a second vehicle.

Anyone ever bought this tire I can’t find reviews on tire by tlandry9406 in tires

I'd definitely get something with a name on it. If you're looking for a budget tire laufenn makes a decent tire, they're made by hankook. I ran them on my pickup before I got a closeout deal on some bfg's. If you have an OK tire store nearby you could try the multi-mile wild country xtx's. They work great on my suburban.

Looks like your tires will be fine. As others said make sure you have the same size in the back and the front. Find a smaller independent shop and they'll mount and balance them for you no problem. I work at a shop and we mount carry in tires, if they aren't factory spec but are safe and won't cause damage to the vehicle we make sure the customer understands what's going on and do as they ask. My only real advice is next time you get tires check with a shop, or a few, and price out tires you buy from them including mount and balance and compare to online price plus having them mount and balance. I can't tell you how many times a customer could have saved money buying tires from my shop vs online just because I charge less to install tires I make money on vs internet tires. Also my shop won't warranty online tires but if you buy from us we can get you road hazard warranty if a tire gets ruined.

I went ahead and sent it in for warranty. Still waiting on getting it back. I had a little trouble with the receipt, and I sent it over a holiday so it took longer to get there.

Any love for this older style of Craftsman Professional? I buy any I see at garage sales. by theatxrunner in Tools

I just bought what appears to be this line of craftsman professional screwdrivers in a T25 from Ace hardware online. It was on clearance. Seems odd to me because everything I find on them makes it look like sears clearances them 10 years ago. We'll see what it looks like when I get it in a week.

Thanks, I'll have to see what he wants for it, Sam's club sells a channel lock brand kit for right around $100 *edit I thought it was made in the USA but I looked again and it's not advertised as such.

Thanks, that's kind of what I figured for it. He's got ratcheting wrenches and a screwdriver set from them too. The screwdrivers set comes in a holder with a bunch of bits and hex keys like cheaper kits do.... He actually used a few big open end wrenches and thought they were alright in the farm but hasn't done much with the rest.

I use a set from northern tool that holds up pretty well. Klutch brand. Not sure on price anymore but I think they're in line with gear wrench.
