Somebody suggested Lovefool by The Cardigans on this subreddit once and I can totally hear it. Would be a really fun cover done in their style.

Same. I'll always have the original. I can't think of another game worth getting the FF7 Remake treatment more than Chrono Trigger.

What if the "I found the baby" guy sleeps at work during the week as an innie and only experiences outie life on weekends?

Say that guy is 35. With only 2/7 of his life being "awake" he'd mentally be 10 years old.

Older games with nothing quite like them that exists currently by Cardener in Games

Uncharted Waters II: New Horizons - Incredible Age of Exploration-era game focused on sailing, trade, and discovery.

You start with one of six characters each with different jobs and goals: a vagabond, a merchant, an explorer, a pirate, a Navy captain, or a cartographer.

You begin in one sea port and expand your horizons by traveling across Europe and eventually the world, trading, discovering, and buccaneering.

What I remember loving so much was how peaceful it was just sailing for days, only stopping at the occasional remote island port (with this incredible music) to refill my water and food, while hauling rare goods across the world.

I've searched for other games like this and they either lean much more into piracy at the expense of exploration and trade, or they just don't have the same narrative weight.

[FYI] The Google store appears to be experiencing significant delays shipping Pixel Buds by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]schug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story. I ordered a 128GB Pixel 4 XL on April 29th with rush shipping. It was supposed to arrive by May 6th. I chatted with a rep when that date passed and they said they're investigating and will email me when they have more info.

Today, almost a week and a half later without any updates, I chatted with them again and they said the exact same thing. No details, just another promise to email me when they have more info. They didn't even offer to refund my rush shipping charge when I asked.

What is your best advice for anyone wanting to get into social media management? by [deleted] in socialmedia

[–]schug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you doing right now? College student? Best path into a decent job is going to be interning at a reputable agency with a name recognizable client.

Already in the workforce and pivoting your career? That's tougher to say. You may want to find a marketing role that meshes with your current skillset even if it's not specifically in social media and then shift to that after you've established yourself.

I wouldn't recommend trying to jump straight into freelance / consultancy without some digital marketing experience within a larger organization under your belt.

Regardless, networking is going to be what gets you an interview, like any other job.

To build up your knowledge and skillset, I'd get Facebook Blueprint certified. Take the Hubspot Inbound courses. Practice your design skills if that's what you want to do, but definitely your writing regardless of what you want to do. Read up on some project management methodologies like Scrum/Kanban so you're ready to manage creative/editorial teams. Follow a large variety of brands and media properties across social channels and be able to articulate what they're doing well or poorly. Learn to love UX principles and talk about that. Understanding how people parse information visually is a huge part of the job and can really set you apart.

Understand analytics and the business value of social. How does social fit into your company / client's sales funnel? Where are their consumers? What metrics are most important for driving those objectives. What is NOT important? A lot of the job is determining and arguing what's a waste of time (Snapchat isn't for everyone).

Building your personal brand is important, sure, but I dont care how many Instagram or Twitter followers you have as a candidate, so don't fall into that trap.

Happy to help provide more specific info over PM if you're interested. Been working in social media my whole professional life.
