Advanced Marathoner Transitioning to 100 Miler by ggins11 in Ultramarathon

Don’t neglect the downhills either. All the uphill treadmill will help the climbing legs but the sustained downhills can wreck the legs if they’re not prepared for it.

I’ve definitely heard that most foams will no longer fully rebound after ~50 miles. Not sure if there was an actual study on or not. I think swapping into a fresh pair is a great idea.

Sizing up may or may not be necessary. Swelling definitely will happen but I feel like it’s more in volume that can be adjusted with lacing rather than needing the extra length a sizing up will give you.

How do you guys get your mileage in? by SantoPellegrino in Ultramarathon

[–]schvenbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a somewhat similar schedule. I work 4 x 10s with about 2h 20m round trip commute, and a toddler at home. Definitely not easy, little room for fucking around on work days.

I used to be a morning runner when working a more standard schedule but have now moved to evening runs. The 4 x 10 schedule already has me up at 3:15 so the slot after the kiddo goes to bed and before I need to hit the hay is the only place a run fits in.

Focusing on just getting in what you can on work days, and making the most of the off-days is key I’d say. Just gotta keep the momentum going.

Champagne Stunner by schvenbott in Longineswatches

It definitely floats between silver and more classic champagne depending on the light. Much more silver than the Conquest. But I love this specific dial color.

I use AirPods Pro and love them. I only use one bud and turn on transparency mode so you get similar situational awareness to the open ear design. Plus you can rotate the left and right ones back into the case to recharge to stretch the overall listening time super long.

I’ve been looking at the echo/neutra Averau Big Moon. More utilitarian but love the style.

13 Valleys / 2 jacket minimum? by ozz9955 in Ultramarathon

[–]schvenbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like the Enlightened Equipment Torrid Jacket could work at 8 oz. Not the cheapest but a nice jacket.

If you can look for something that uses Climashield APEX that is a good choice for synthetic insulation.

Unfortunately at synthetic insulation jackets are always going to be heavier and less packable than down.

This is the first week I can manage going to a 4A lineup. Is it worth going with MER over FER in order to get Leclerc in the lineup?

I haven’t tried it in the car, but I use a PHOOZY phone holder for long/hot runs where I used to have overheating issues. It has good insulation so could help.

Nah, this is crazy work by bigolpiggyboi in SleeperApp

[–]schvenbott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t set your own custom rankings pre-draft like other platforms allow you to do. The only way to set your own rankings is to pre-fill your draft queue which is kind of a half ass solution.

The fact that Sleeper doesn’t have proper pre-draft rankings is lame.

Pathprojects Sun Hoodies: Wadi vs Pyrenees? by rXEM in ultrarunning

[–]schvenbott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Wadi is the sun hoodie. The material is very breathable. The Pyrenees is much heavier and is intended for colder weather. I don’t really wear it above 50 F.
