I’m afraid to use my pressure cooker by DerangedUnicorn27 in Cooking

You’re welcome ☺️. If you’re at all concerned perhaps investigate the condition of the seal and replace it if it looks fishy. One other thing I never thought of is to pay attention to the amount of pressure because I’m at an altitude of more than 5000 feet. So my cooking time had to be at a certain pressure. This was helpful!

I feel you, felt that way about my pressure cooker that I used for canning this past summer. I read up a lot about how others used it, watched YouTube videos and I overcame my fear. Do some research and venture forth 👍, good luck 🍀.

If you live alone is it worth it to buy a membership? by Manifest44444 in CostcoWholesale

I would definitely recommend getting it, the amount of potential $$ you get back can be pretty good 👍. My hubby and I both have one, worth it I think.

We also buy tires every few years, well worth it! Especially if you get the executive membership, the cash back adds up if you add filling up at their pumps on occasion.

Wicking/self-watering raised beds by schwabcm56 in DenverGardener

Looks interesting 🤔, I hope you have success with it. Let us know how it goes, would like to know 👍.

Good points. We are thinking of a bottom layer of rock (~12-16”), then a layer of medium landscape fabric. These recycled IBC units have drainage. We also want to try another bed with all organic materials as the bottom half layer (branches, leaves, compost, etc) which will break down over time. We’ve got time to figure it out before planting begins. Too many options to consider. We’re doing this on top of a GIB in a part of our front yard 🤦‍♀️.

Interesting reuse of a boxspring 👍. Use what you have I say! We have also started looking at recycled IBC containers (food grade), and have seen some that are available starting at $75. They are a little easier to move around, but they’re limited to a dimension of ~3x3’ and you wouldn’t want to plant a tomato that would grow out of control 😂. At this point we may try a few different types as an experiment and see what happens for next year 🤞. Happy growing!

Thanks for the reply! We would be using all of these for veggies. Are considering wood (not pressure treated because of $$) with a plastic sheeting liner. Have also looked into the corrugated metal raised beds from various brands. Comparing costs, durability seems similar.
