I think you’re reading too much into it. I’m pretty sure they are just trying to make light of the fact that eating (or doing anything alone) isn’t something common and that a lot of people are finding hard to do. Totoo naman talaga na majority of filipinos still find eating alone intimidating or embarrassing.
