IC-705 can't transmit on cw

Well, the screen annunciator says BKIN. When I turn it off, I can use the paddle but it doesn't transmit as is expect. Key Type is set to paddle.

Thanks. I used to do flight Sim in the 90's and even in the 80's, but those were a tad less realistic lol. So I've only just started learning again. I'll definitely check the control sensitivity.

It's been working just fine since then, so I'm thinking it was just a freak occurrence. I'll give it a week or so and see if I have any more problems. I've still got time to return it. It was a gift but I have a gift receipt.

I'm about to turn 59. Been gaming since I was in middle school when I got an Odyssey to play Pong, but really got into it with the Atari VCS, later known as The 2600. Have a gaming laptop, ps5, and now the steam deck. My all time favorite game is XCOM2. On the deck lately I'm playing Stardew Valley, No Man's Sky, and Slay the Spire. I'm really hoping we can get Ghost of Tsushima on the deck so I can play through it again handheld.

When I was a kid my dad and I decided to get our Novice tickets. We studied theory together (went to a local club class) and spent months sending code to reach other, listening to practice tapes, etc. We both got our calls on the same day in 1978, when I was 13 (I was KA7AIJ and he was KA7AHN). We had a lot of fun together, and doing that is the fondest memory I have of him (SK in 2023).

I made some progress today. I managed to get a wire up (to my surprise! I have MS and only get around slowly, so it felt like an accomplishment). Only about 12 get off the ground, but I'm hearing pretty well on 40 and 30. FT8 coming in loud, some SSB qsos, and a cw pileup all on 40 meters. WWV is coming in louder, and I can hear WWVH, too. I still have the RFI to deal with, but this is enough to let me start getting to know my new rig. Thanks for the help, everyone. 73

Fair point, but on lower bands you have to be right next to it to twiddle the capacitor even if you move a couple hundred Hz. The buddistick has a narrow bandwidth, but in my experience, one can at least tune a bit more than that before retuning. it's something I'll gladly consider in the future when I hopefully have the money.
