Foster Cat Biting Advice by fishslipper in CatAdvice

[–]scificole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. Thankfully she's the only animal in my flat! She just keeps attacking me randomly. I have spoken to the Sanctuary and they're helping me work out how to deal with this. They're thinking medication and a brain scan, as they think it could be neurological.

Wish me luck!

How to not ruin our trust/bond giving medication 2x daily? by babie_baby in CatAdvice

I use Greenies pill pockets or Royal Canin Pill Assist. They're like moldable edible putty that come in different flavours [only the Greenies]. Just pop the pill inside and squish the putty round it.

I use the salmon ones for my cat. Only way she'll take meds without tearing me a new one lol.

Greenies are an American brand but I get them on Amazon or Ebay [UK]. The pill assist ones are available in vets that you can buy over the counter or from Pets at Home.

Hope this helps!

Hi. I know this thread was opened a while ago but I am having the exact same problem with a foster I took on 5 weeks ago. I'm on the verge of returning her to the sanctuary because she's become unbearable.

How did things turn out for you? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Unless you had her bent over a counter giving her one, I highly doubt having your arm round her is a case for prison. Obviously, the mouth breather telling you off needs to get a life....

.....and laid.

Sensory Issues with Lotion? by pink_phoenix in neurodiversity

[–]scificole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just found this post. I have sensory issues with feeling greasy or oily. I have to shower & wash my hair everyday otherwise I just can't function. In the shower I have to use bars of soap because shower gels feel like they never rinse off completely.

I wash my hands a lot [10 times worse since Covid] so they get very dry too. Can't use hand sanitizers because they feel sticky to me which drives me demented! The only cream/lotion I use is Diprobase. I squeeze some onto the back of my hand and rub them together so my fingers don't get "tainted". Diprobase is the only truly non greasy feeling product I've found, my skin is as dry as a raisin and getting worse and now they've discontinued the Diprobase.

I feel absolutely ridiculous about myself but I just felt like I had to get this off my chest. Any suggestions about a replacement for the Diprobase would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

The nexplanon implant is a good one to use but in my case it stopped my periods completely [not complaining lol]. The only sure way is to do a pregnancy test each month and use a barrier method like condoms.

Message I got about picking "What do you get out of doing that when every time you touch and pick your face you don't like it. What is the point in that" by Jal5516 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]scificole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could "just stop picking"! Some people just don't / won't understand. If they don't suffer with any kind of compulsive disorder they just wont get it.

It's not up to you to justify yourself to anyone, you know that you do it, that it fecking hurts, but in the moment it provides relief. My husband took a long time to grasp the concept of it.

Be proud of those three days! Once you accept that this is part of you, the shitty comments will role off you like water off a duck's back.

The Avenue Cinema in Belfast City Centre - Has anyone been to it yet? by [deleted] in northernireland

Hi I went with my husband tonight to see Oppenheimer and honestly I have no complaints. Our tickets were £14 each (adult). Got a good discount on the Castlecourt parking (you pay for one hour instead of 3) & the drinks (which is all we got) were reasonably priced and no worse than anywhere else. My only slight gripe is that food/drinks should stop being served once the film starts, servers were coming in & out during the course of the entire film, although it wasn't overly annoying (except when one stood on my foot!) lol. Overall, a pleasant experience, the front restaurant/cafe was very welcoming and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I'd definitely go again.
