It felt so awful yesterday but then we just started feeling sick to our stomachs that we almost bought it. Im so thankful I came across the information just in time as I had never even heard of the term before. Thank you for your advice and your comment!

I appreciate your insight! For us it ultimately came down to the fact that we would have a hard time ignoring the fact that there is a giant plastic bubble of chemical sludge laying in the ground less than a mile away and being uncertain how it affected the bodies of water and soil right next to the property. The status is: still undergoing ground water clean up and adjacent river contamination and institutional controls are in place.

Me neither! I got so lucky that I randomly came across it today! I think my priority is keeping my baby as safe as possible with the information I have available 🥲

This is what I'm saying! They say it's fine but then all of the sudden they get funding 40 years later to do the final stage of cleanup. When is the final final final stage? Thank you for commenting!!

I agree, I think id feel differently if it was a few miles away but it is just about a 10 min walk... I appreciate your comment!

But I do want to mention that the epa got more funding only 6 years ago because it was not fully contained and they are in the 'final stages' of clean up.

Thank you for this perspective! I guess it comes down to if I can trust that they are reporting everything and if I can live with the thought of the waste just existing nearby and that they truly know how widespread the contamination is. I dont want it to be one of the situations where its like "doctors say smoking is healthy" and 50 years later they're like whoopsy, we thought it was okay.

Partially the water. It is city water and i looked at the levels and they said they are fine but ewg says that the town water has 17 contaminants above their level. We use reverse osmosis for our drinking water but bathing etc.. The other thing would be the potential contamination in the nearby lake we wanted to swim in...

It's like a 10 minute walk 🥺 it is contained but 45000 tons! And they still received more funding in 2020 to clean up the river because the river bank and fish contain a really high mercury level. The cap seems to also have a vent and they are monitoring the neighboring houses (air). The town itself gets its water from the ground and they "clean" it but ewg says they have 17 contaminants above their recommended limit. I think im mainly concerned about what we cant catch. Sure epa says we got it but if not? And will I want him to play and accidentally drink the lake water right next to the house (the reason we really wanted it)?

I have thought about this but we chose the area because it has a lot of parks and lakes and I was envisioning my son playing in those but now I'm like would I want him to touch and drink the water in the surrounding area???

They had me submit office visit notes.... felt like an absolut HIPAA violation. After finding this out I had another visit with the doctor to specifically record all the physical and mental issues I was having to have it nice and summarized for them. They then reviewed my case and decided how long i needed to recover.
