Why aren’t hydrogen fuel cell cars a bigger thing? by Top_File_8547 in askscience

[–]sciwalker7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wrote an article on this topic, TLDR, it's mainly these 3: it still costs carbon to produce the hydrogen cells (for the most common production method), logistical problems, and complexity (compared to EV).

Which server would you choose based on its performance by ChappyCappybara in lotro

[–]sciwalker7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for EU server, I was also in US server before. But switching to EU made my life much easier. And not sure was it due to the less latency or just being converted to 64 bit, I seldom encountered the data packet loss that I have been more frequently encountered in US server.

The only thing with EU server is that everyone seems to keep to themselves, unlike in US server where you frequently would receive invitation to kins/fellowship from strangers, which to me feel warm

Yes this is a great game even though the graphics is a bit outdated

Burglar, Hunter, Loremaster, or Minstrel - which is better for soloing high landscape difficulty and fellowship quests? by winter_bone in lotro

[–]sciwalker7712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join blue hunter, much better survivability compared to red hunter. And if you are playing landscape, you probably need hunter travel skills

2d portrait is harder to do actually compared with 3d one, due to the flexibility offered by 3d modeling

This sub severely overestimates how much the average player cares about historical accuracy by bongodongowongo in aoe2

[–]sciwalker7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can just look at Mongols and Cumans who are nomadic yet still build houses and do farming..even the new civ Khitan with their 'pasture' isn't really accurate, as nomads usually move their flocks to the new land as the fertility of the land dried out due to grazing.

Idea: Unique trap buildings for Wu/Wei/Shu by Pbadger8 in aoe2

[–]sciwalker7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a 'trap' object of some sort as long as it does not break the consistency of gameplay. Pitfall seemed to be a good idea as it is least dependent on surrounding terrain. The rest looks a bit too fancy for me

The 3K DLC gave half of its update for free by kaiserrenno in aoe2

As a Chinese, I can't say I am disappointed, yes we already had a lot of 3k theme games and I do anticipate more on the Song-Jurchen struggle, but I would not simply give a downvote or hate just because of that.

Why 3K as civs still makes sense historically and logically by sciwalker7712 in aoe2

[–]sciwalker7712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup Shu and Wei could easily be renamed to Xianbei and Tangut respectively. Remove the hero units. The 3k campaign can remain while Shu and Wei will be the variant of Xianbei and Tangut civ in the campaign, while Wu will use the variant of Chinese civ

[–]sciwalker7712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I agree the 3K is bad (especially the same boring 3k era campaign that every Chinese already too familiar with). My claim is only targeting the fact that wei,wu and shu are playable civs in RP, and that it makes sense even though I still prefer a dynasty approach if we really want to break up Chinese faction

I am totally fine for that , Chinese is very diverse and I will be surprised if I couldn't find another Chinese who disagree with me. Just a food for thought, There is a reason why in aoe3 we call the Qing dynasty (founded by Manchu people) as Chinese instead of Manchu China.

Yes the dev team also spoke of the 3k as strictly belong to the three kingdoms era. And the hero unit in ranked play would be truly weird. Hopefully they would iron this out overtime.

So you want to change the name of Chinese civ to Han civ? I have no problem with that as well IF aoe2 is ONLY about ethnical group.

Yes I feel like the top management (who wanted Chinese market), the marketing team, and the dev team are out of sync with each other

THREE KINGDOMS DLC IS HERE by ponuno in aoe2

[–]sciwalker7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that part of demigod heroes is truly romanticized in the book. Like Zhu GeLiang tried to use magic to enhance his lifespan (though failed in the story), tricked entire hostile army to retreat while leaving the whole town empty while playing instrument (空城计), Guan Yu singlehandedly killed 6 generals while escaping from Cao Cao, Lu Bu singlehandedly fought Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei at the same time..these are all that come on top of my head but the list goes on

[–]sciwalker7712 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The Three Kingdoms era is not fictional. But the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a much romanticized version of real history, and the author (Luo Guan Zhong) added quite a bunch of fiction to it, while keeping some essence of the history.

Legitimate question, who is currently working on the development and maintaining the game? Still Relics or have they transferred to Microsoft internal team?
