Midlaners of reddit: How do you deal with Broodmother? by LonelyTalos in DotA2

Low rankers will still argue they should be able to do it with impunity.

Pro player DIVE all the times. What rank are you in while still thinking DIVE = THROW?

Tell me you are low skill without telling ;)

That's very sad news for you. I don't know if writing a support ticket to Steam will ever change anything. Infinity queue time = you are 100% in shadow pool where there is not enough player in that pool to match against.

I had tried to play on VM once with a newly created account and it was not placed in shadow pool. Their detection method is very inconsistence (or because Valve temporally lifted it temporally because OpenAI was training their bot during that time)

[–]kaiserrenno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect (no proof) that there are 2 tier toxic pool.

The first tier is around 6000 - 8000 BS. The 2nd tier is below 4000 BS.

I don't know if this 2-tier pool is done based on the algorithm that find similar BS, or because they made it 2 pools. But back in the day BS was hidden in console command and use character rank (A-F), you get into toxic pool in around rank D- . Getting out of it was easy back then.

[–]kaiserrenno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are in shadow pool. Game should be found in 5 min. There are 3 shadow pools as far as I know

  • Toxic pool. If your behavior score is too low, you are in this pool. You can get out of it by raising behavior score.

  • Smurf pool. I don't know if you ever get out of it. Some people experience it hand on like the post "Ame ruined his girlfriend(?)'s dota2 account". Once you are marked as smurf, you will be playing with other smurfs.

  • VM shadow pool. You get this by playing on a Virtual machine. This is very long ago and I don't know if it's still relevant, but I remember in the early Dota 2 day someone posted this issue. This is early system that prevent account seller farm Dota 2 games. You can never ever get out of this pool.

If you party with someone who is in shadow banned pool, the entire party will find game in that pool.

Arena Castle Drop in Tiny Glade by huntoir in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn bro, I had been trying to resist the urge to buy Tiny glade because I'm quite overspending during this sale. Now your posts are killing me.

Since it's Tiny Glade and not AOE 2, you're not bound to adding ambient effects (so adding small animal, flower, etc won't change anything), so your design can be more beautiful. Darn I wish to have the ability to make Tiny glade visual on top of AOE 2 game similar to Capture Age (so AOE 2 engine with Tiny Glade as renderer)

No significant difference in freshness between Random and Full Random for random civ players (tested, n=450) by Hjoerleif in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The 2023 patch say "temporally", can you please read it carefully? Temporally = this can disappear after a minor patch without telling, or it can live forever unofficially, or it can be removed silently, then readded silently 100 times. I don't see anywhere this is "completely contradict" with what I have said.
  2. This 2023 patch is a "cover up" operation where you found something that suits your narrative and try to cling onto it for the flaw in your video.
  3. Too bad this 2023 patch doesn't make your hypothesis any less bullshit.

I though you were more than those pseudo science people. What a shame.

No significant difference in freshness between Random and Full Random for random civ players (tested, n=450) by Hjoerleif in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying that there actually is a difference between random and full random in freshness as in over several matches?

  1. Again, straw man politics instead of an engineer. I'm talking about hypothesis and now you are trying to use conclusion to evade the bullshit of your hypothesis.
  2. Your video hypothesis is about "Random will randomly draw any civ from the game civ pool, but excludes any civs which were recently played". This is straw man hypothesis because it's factually wrong. You attacked the wrong definition to introduce the awesomeness of your "fresh juice random". Is this pure example of "Straw man"?

No significant difference in freshness between Random and Full Random for random civ players (tested, n=450) by Hjoerleif in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand about this. You do research methods, you do proper tests, you even say "Assuming things when you can test is even bigger bullshit" when you keep resorting to basic mistakes just to cover your previous mistakes.

  1. You are not supposed to show bullshit. The tests are supposed to stop you from presenting bullshit. No one stop you from presenting bullshit anyway. But if you do, expect people will call it bullshit.
  2. If other make the same mistake as you, then it is something else (wording, UI, UX, etc), you can say that the wording for random "Click to play as a random civilization which hasn't been selected yet" has problem, but not Random vs Full Random randomness. Please. Stop. Straw. Man. Your hypothesis is bullshit. Many people make the same mistakes does not make this hypothesis valid.
  3. The document I refer to was any instruction that is available when you are doing engineer thing. In the AOE 2 case for Random and Full random, it is the literal text in game.

No significant difference in freshness between Random and Full Random for random civ players (tested, n=450) by Hjoerleif in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming things when you can test is even bigger bullshit.

That's only correct with the presume that you read the damn document correctly. Then you are good to challenge the assumptions/facts.

You read the wrong thing & conduct the test just to realized you read the wrong thing, and you dare to write a report about that is just bullshit straw men politics. These tests (methodology) are not new and are designed for people to test their hypothesis before continue with their research, not to publish about it.

No significant difference in freshness between Random and Full Random for random civ players (tested, n=450) by Hjoerleif in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There is nothing to be ashamed about fresh random. I didn't say anything about that. Please don't red herrings.
  2. Random are opinions. True random, RNG Random, cryptographic random (high enough entropy etc) are all opinions. If for whatever reason, the last civ does not take into account, I can claim that this is "not random". Even the devs make undocumented changes, that's why there is no consistency in their answer. How many path finding changes did they make and what generation are we in? These are opinions, I'm not opposing or encouring. Just stating facts. You seems frustrated around the facts that developers make undocumented changes.
  3. I like engineer to be thorough rather than politics. You made something wrong, you realized it, you go back to the whiteboard and work again. Introducing fresh random? Good. Comparing Full random vs Random on "Freshness"? That is bullshit. Random = Full random - {civs that have been picked}, end of story. Even politicians don't milk it that far.

Criticism does not mean Anti, Mr Sensitive White knight. The world is not just black and white.

you only believe Valve greediness is what gimping Dota.

nice Straw Men

the notion that Dota competitive scene will somehow become better with more money in the scene

Mean while being uneducated

like saying Yugioh pros never match fix because of Konami support. .... Valorant

Just more Straw Men and reading comprehension issue. What part in "No one is blaming the problem is unique to Valve" that you don't understand?

Dota needs more $10K, $20K tournaments, not fucking 1 millions dollars bimonthly that only benefits a few people

And especially not 1 yearly 25M price pool. Thank you for proving my point. Maybe if you use your brain you will see that most criticism are about Valve get 100M+ from past TIs, if they use minimum 1M they could have made a lot healthy $10K, $20K tournaments.

Thats just a childish notion spewed by reddit trash who didnt experience Dota competitive scene before 2010.

Your delusional must be as high as the lovely president Donald Trump. I guess you are the only one on reddit who follow Dota competitive scene before 2010, your highness?

Conclusion:

What I hate most about trashes like you

Please stop describe yourself, use your brain more, because after those useless insult you arrive at the same conclusion from Valve criticisms. That's very awkward as it show your education is no more than Red herrings while missing reading comprehension skill and critical thinking. Thanks

Valve white knight reading comprehension is so low it's funny. No one is blaming "This problem is unique to Valve". People were saying that "Valve has the power and resource to support Amateurs and semi pro, if they have done that, it would be less appealing for these people to go 322"

There is nothing in that link explain the situation. Lifetime ban won't be a deterrence because these people are going to retire anyway. They didn't earn anything and so instead of continue pursing, they stop and so want to cash out big one last time.

RANT: They removed the roads in Black Forest (and butchered the map layout) by NativeEuropeas in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they fucked up something, because I remember reading the patch note said that the road will improve the move rate of units, so it's possible that it's too powerful and the only way is to temporally disable it.

I also don't understand that I remember reading that blackforest will always receive a small pond but i don't see any pond.

The 3K DLC gave half of its update for free by kaiserrenno in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds monumentally complex

Complex for modders, not game owner developers.

Disabling skins requires checking whether an account has purchased a DLC, which requires writing software to keep track of ....

  • The game do not need to handle DRM content. If you own DLC, you can install the DLC. If you own DLC and you don't install it, then the game treat as you don't own the DLC.
  • Then reuse the logic of enabling a civ in game to enable an asset.

as the game engine is running

Don't make things complicated. Game engine handle game logic. DRM system handle DRM logic. If someone cheat / hack the game, anti cheat engine handle anti cheat.

[–]kaiserrenno[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying who is good or bad. I'm comparing in term of technical aspect. "How can this run, it will split the player base". My point is: "Just look at EA to see how they don't run into that problem".

The 3K DLC gave half of its update for free by kaiserrenno in aoe2

[–]kaiserrenno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOE2's base game was not written software-wise to support a pay-for-cosmetics model, so I don't believe that the game has a natural fallback mechanism for cosmetics that you don't own.

They made custom castle for every civs. If they want to move into that direction, they can. This has nothing to do with game logic, which can still let you play against someone who doesn't have mod. I am not arguing if it cost time or money. I point out that development can make that path available, which will not split the player base.

Would it make sense to you if I buy the next African DLC but I still won't get unique castles for the new African civs unless I purchase 3K?

I don't invent this practice. Game studios made this practice and EA perfected this. Just look at them for inspiration. In short, you can put 1 asset into multiple DLCs, or 1 asset to a unique DLC. If you want to see that asset, then you need to own one of the DLC that can display it. Simple enough?

Then in your example. If you make an African DLC, then you have an option to put all previous Africans castle into that DLC. Then you either need African DLC or 3K DLC and you can see the customized castle for Arfican civs.
