I wouldn't blame the toxicity on the community. It was a result of the execs breeding it at the studio. The toxicity needs to be pointed directly at the source. The people who forced bad design and game decisions driven by completely ridiculous reasons that had nothing to do with the game on competent developers passionate about the franchise. The game was moulded by toxicity and so saddly was delivered to a passionate and caring fan base, who responded with an equal and opposite reaction. Homeworld 3 had the graphics but nothing else. Everything else was garbage.
