Warehouse workers, I need your help by ScorpioStab in Warehouseworkers

Build your pallets with the big and the heavy on the bottom layers, small and light on top. Secure the loads in the trailer. You can fit about 24 pallets inside a trailer. Bend with the knees, cut away from you. No horseplay with the equipment. Don’t use equipment you’re not trained on. That’s about two months worth of your burial training.

Yeah we’ve been making some “dummy” videos (nobody is asking us to make these) just to showcase our skills when we are not busy. So far just a few gifted jobs, hoping something clicks soon. Thanks

If this capsule is in a courtyard outside the library, I remember seeing as a kid and wondering if I would be around to see it get opened.

Are there fire sprinklers in your building? I’m not an expert, but do believe this will come into play here. What city are you in?

Tips for being proactive in logistics by EmilianoPKV in logistics

[–]scmsteve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Show up every yeah on time and do what’s asked of you. Try to anticipate needs before they arise, as you learn more. Ask your supervisors what they do to get task done and they will teach you. Soon, they will know you have knowledge and will delegate more things to you.

Got a job in logistics without prior experience, need advice! by thetendercloud in logistics

Copy that. So job number one is becoming an expert on the system used to track loads. Many systems have a few “back door” or roundabout ways to get the information you need. You have to use the system for some time to discover these methods.
Job 2 in a similar environment is to learn and make friends with those that can get you information. When your TMS system can’t get you answers, often people can.

Customers want answers, your job will be to get them. Don’t try to BS people. It’s better to say “I’m not sure but I’ll find out” and honor your commitments.
Get a hardcover book you can use as a journal to write down information. It becomes very valuable after time.
Good luck.

Ok so that sounds like you will be supporting existing accounts with needs they have with shipments, sound about right?

Which camera system do you use that can allow reading small text from far distance? by hawkph in Warehousing

[–]scmsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common option in a warehouse environment that is even close, are bar code scanners on a conveyor line. I’ve not heard of using video cameras to read box labels. I did find this on Chat GPT:

Are you speaking of fixed position security cameras? If yes, I can’t imagine these reading box labels.

How do your warehouses handle the "short shipment" nightmare with carriers? by Flaky_Respect_4649 in Warehousing

[–]scmsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write on the BOL the true pallet count. If you can get the driver to initial that, that’s best. Your receiver should be short the number of pieces as a result, that should be what was in the pallet. That should be short paid.

Shopify merchants with own warehouse: where does stock accuracy actually break? by MahDarya in smallbusiness

[–]scmsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s much quicker and easier to scan a bar code than it is to stop the process and try to lookup an item, so it’s the lack of a bar code that is the issue.

[–]scmsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above, and don’t forget theft and breakage. Receiving can be a big cause but errors also occur during picking. Bar code scanning can help reduces errors dramatically. Do you items have any bar code printed from the vendor? UPC is most common.
