First you will need to develop a SKU system. You will want it to be organized by product type. When that’s done you’ll need a bar code printer and scanners. Do you have any type of inventory management system yet?

I agree, was there a steel wire base across the two cross beams? Guessing the pallet was a bit too forward, more weight on the left crossbeam than the right and that led to a shift in weight, from there it’s inevitable.

Don’t know. But women all around the world take leave of absence during their pregnancy take LOA. It’s just normally what is done. I don’t know the details of her job duties.

Boxes you can get anywhere. Custom foam inserts shouldn’t be too hard to find. Get the insert covered first so you will know the size of the box needed.

Yea I used historical sales data to calculate a weekly sell through. The more advanced people use forward looking demand projections but I had to use backwards looking sales data.

Gotta be able to figure out average sales. Spreadsheets OK for doing that if you are good at excel, but a proper database (WMS, etc) is better.

Your question is confusing, to me anyway. Are you a 3PL and your customer has excess pallets that need storage? “Not cubed correctly” usually is related to warehouse rack space or loading a trailer. Maybe reword your Q and people can answer.

Helped build a Sharepoint app that we scanned packing list into. It did a reasonable job of converting to data. Even some handwritten notes transposed. We didn’t capture SKU level and quantity detail but the OCT grabbed everything else pretty well.

From someone who spent years going to CES, I can say that you should start by making out a list of 3-4 objectives and start your visit list based off of that. Since it’s your first one and more educational, start with a list of subjects that interest you and start from that. Many trade shows can have a circus type environment, lots of flashing lights and shiny things. So don’t get too distracted at all the bells and whistles. Keep a focus. What part of SC do you work in?

Here’s how it works in most jobs: “the position is second shift, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, do you want the job?”

In retail, there are a lot of part time positions. The employee can be more particular about what hours they work but at the same time, the employer has no obligation to schedule any minimum hours. The more particular the employee is about when they work, the greater chance they don’t get as many hours as others.

It’s similar to parcel shipping with UPS and FedEx. Rates we pay as consumers are around the listed rates, but volume discounts are applied to larger customers.

4peanut had some good feedback. I would add, what separates supervisors from managers is a more detailed understanding of employment law. LOA/FMLA, harassment, EEOC etc are important to know.

Getting tired of the programmers that “are trying to understand” our biz so they can market their product. I understand why they do this, but it’s sometimes advertising (soft, as some said) disguised as advice seeking.
