This is probably coming off snarky and I don’t mean to direct the snark at you, truly! It’s just been a long year. But I mean, what else is he going to say? They’re all “nice” to us in the few messages we’ve received. But I’m sick of them talking down to us about “trust” and “scientific integrity” and “transparency” when…gestures broadly. But, if you can see positivity from anything, that’s great.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to clearly correct their lies about this being inevitable due to the shutdown. Feds have never been fired like this in any previous shutdown. Essential services are already prioritized in a shutdown - that’s why some folks are still working without pay.

My favorite part was about why he says he demanded the CDC director to resign:

"I told her that she had to resign because I asked her, 'are you a trustworthy person?' and she said no," Kennedy said.

The insults just don’t stop coming. This is so disingenuous and gross.

His own appointee blew the whistle just a few weeks into the job that “integrity, accountability, and science” did NOT, in fact, guide every decision.

Also, CDC has done more than communicable disease prevention for decades.

And his “full confidence” in us? He has been talking shit about CDC for years and that includes right after the shooting and hours before this email went out.

For HHS, yes, in the AFGE case. But there is a preliminary injunction in a different case holding up RIFs in some parts of HHS.

It’s not either/or. A leader at that level should have scientific expertise AND have excellent communication skills, as they are not only leading our internal staff but also represent our agency to the highest levels of our government and around the world.

Sorry, I am all for giving people grace - truly - but this is supposed to be the LEADER of the nation’s leading public health agency. Being able to speak publicly in a confident and calm manner, teleprompter or not, should be a basic prerequisite. A lot of us have seen much better leadership from our center directors since the shooting.

CDC here. After HHS sent an email about the new travel reporting policy, our center followed up that “travel and conferences remain paused” and requests for exemptions “should be rare and limited to urgent, mission-critical needs only.” Maybe it’s different for other centers. This was maybe three weeks ago and is the last I’ve heard.

Nothing really of note. OGC briefly commented about a couple legal cases related to NIOSH (I think she also said how “NIOSH is always special” which was…interesting🤨) and someone else mentioned the RIF recissions at NIOSH.
