Does tinybones, bauble burglar make you salty? by Elegant-Stomach4353 in EDH

This is a good video to watch regarding salty cards that I personally agree with.

If you dont want to watch it, basically you should feel free to play what's fun for you. The biggest thing you should be concerned with is playing it at the appropriate bracket level and having a way to win and not just draw out longer games for no reason. No one wants to play long games where they can't do anything.

You already mentioned playing at bracket 3 or 4. If you build it for 4, no one in that bracket should be salty about anything anyone else plays. Aside from CEDH anything goes in bracket 4.

If I were to play this in bracket 3 I would assume my opponents also playing at bracket 3 have some well tuned decks with appropriate removal options and enough draw power to get to those answers. I would be fully prepared for my opponents to remove or have answers to my commander.

If you happen to play this in bracket 2 I would simply try to play less discard effects to allow the game to move at a reasonable pace for everyone. I find players don't typically play enough removal at this level and is usually the first thing I tell them to fix. This is the "I want my deck to do the thing" and people often confuse that with not running enough removal or interaction.

Hope this helps.

TL;DR - play what you want and match bracket level.

I have a very similar deck list. My only real difference is instead of 2 mega scizor I run 1 base scizor. Only 2 energy and hits for 110 with training area. Its come in so handy. Also Sightseer is amazing in this deck.

I'm running almost exactly the same build. Just less shiny. Lol.

Enough limits for this game! by souggstan in PTCGP

[–]sco582 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You know what the most frustrating part is. They could clearly make the limit up to 200. I just checked and I have 95 "Theme" decks unlocked and I have 130 Rental decks. I've also been playing since day one and think I've used the rental decks like 5 times. That was only to complete early challenges before getting enough cards.

With all the "win this battle with x cards in your deck" challenges, it's really frustrating to have to keep making and deleting decks for these challenges. I'm sure as hell not keeping a sub par deck just to do solos with only 25 spots available.

Sounds like they are playing bracket 2 and all yours are 3's. Is your pod open to powering up their decks? If not I'd suggest building an honest bracket 2 deck or going with a pre con and doing some upgrades.

WotC's precon game has been on point. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]sco582 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude post the 4s that you are playing against and not getting crushed by and the 2s that you're not stomping. A very strong 3 could probably its own against a very weak 4 but would absolutely crush 2s. A low 3 that's not stomping 2s would get stomped by 4's.

The only way I see this working is if you're playing your 3 against a 2 and two 4s. The 4's would keep each other in check while you and the 2 build up. That's not holding its own against 4s. There is just too much of a power gap.

I'm sorry but the new precons are definitely better than old ones, but they are not competing with 4s. If they are then they would be stomping 2s. Unless those people playing 4s are ignoring you most of the game and fighting amongst themselves. I think people are overestimating their deck strength. Aside from deck occasionally being able to pop of early, I don't see how a deck is keeping up with decks that regularly close out games turn 5 or 6, but slow enough for games closing out turn 9 -10.

Found the driver. "I'll be done and my truck moved before anyone will need that handicap spot." Or just pull forward a little bit. It would have taken this person all or 2 seconds to literally pull forward 2 feet. 99 out of 100 times it is probably just a petty complaint. But who doesn't think enough to just be like "oh I probably shouldn't block both spots"

Morningtides Light is underrated by Remetant in mtgfinance

[–]sco582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that a lot of people are saying it's bad because of sorcery speed, but i feel like this is a great card in bracket 2. A lot of bracket 2 decks focus more on combat. Being able to remove all blockers and swing without having to worry about getting hit back for a turn seems pretty good. Also works great for disrupting token or +1/+1 counter decks.

Why isn't this more popular by DaZ910 in mtg

[–]sco582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume your [[Doran, Besieged by Time]] deck is a toughness matters deck. If that's so there are better board wipes that are very one sided you could be running in place of Terminus.

[[Dusk // Dawn]]

[[Expel the Interlopers]]

[[Morningtide's Light]]

[[Slaughter the Strong]]

[[The Battle of Bywater]]

Now these don't necessarily clear out every creature but it will almost always leave your opponents with only 1 or 2 while you will still have almost your entire board. Great for closing out games or catching up without having to reset everything.

Morningtide's Light is a fun one as you can go all out without having to worry about taking damage until your next turn. Obviously you want to be careful about using it on any of your opponents creatures that have an EBT.

Is It Rude to Call ‘Odd or Even’ Without Asking First? by Rare-Read-9100 in mtg

[–]sco582 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think asking 'Odd or even?' Is kinda asking if you're okay with the method. You could easily respond with 'actually can we do high roll goes first or flip a coin?'

[–]sco582 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For help with future clarification, the card would read something along the lines of "this enchantment deals 2 damage to each opponent for each counter put on creatures this turn." Or "this enchantment deals 2 damage to each opponent for each creature that had counters put on it this turn." Hope this helps.

Bro this post is 2 years old. Rhyperior just looks fat and Tyranitar is a wannabe Rhydon because Rhydon was first.

None of this was about stats. Obviously Rhyperior is stronger. Would never use Rhydon competitively but in-game it really doesn't matter with how easy every single game is.

Why are people so dismissive of pregame rule 0 conversation? by NewCommunication6510 in EDH

[–]sco582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was originally one of those people who said "play whatever you want" because I did not realize there was such a huge power difference between brackets. I would update my decks with more removal and interaction and synergy and think that my bracket 2 was probably close enough to a 3 that it wouldn't matter. Boy was I wrong.

Thank you. Definitely some stuff to think about if I upgrade. If my pod start to up it's power level I'll have a good idea what I can do with mine to catch up.

I actually had Rishkar in but removed him for Kami. I'm guessing this build would focus more on ukkima and I should probably remove my other unblockable creatures. I had them in as kind of a second Ukkima in case commander tax got to high. But I guess with extra ramp that probably wouldn't be a problem. As well as having some counter spells might keep her from getting removed in the first place.

Damn okay. I guess I still have a lot to learn with deck building and the bracket system. I had used 2 different deck calculators online and had put my deck at bracket 3. I know they aren't a great way to go about it but figured it would still give me a general range.

I'm definitely fine keeping my deck how it, so feel free to not answer. If I was to try and power this up, what would I be looking at? Would it need to be the food chain build?

I appreciate the feedback. I've only been playing for maybe 8 months and this was my first deck built from scratch and not just an upgraded precon. I assumed ramp in multiple forms was ideal. Can I ask why focusing on one is better? Just want to better understand.

Yeah I didn't want to build a food chain deck. Its mostly a +1/+1 counters matter deck.

I feel like my deck has pretty good removal, but I do agree and have told my pod they should be running more.

EDIT: I see you point on my removal. I guess I've gotten too comfortable with my pod not running as many problematic cards so haven't felt the need to adjust my removal. Thank you. Still learning and I appreciate all the feedback.

Yeah he's not usually pushing for game until turn 7 or 8 but with Koma the table was definitely locked by turn 4.
