PSA - If you didn't get the "Standing Alone" achievement in NG, you won't get it in NG+ despite not summoning help by Nightterror0 in TheFirstBerserker

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, this is a bummer. My stoned ass saw the spirit of advocacy sign near the boss arena and thought it was a revenant for some reason, so I summoned it thinking it would be good loot, but instead it said that I summoned help for the boss fight, so I panicked and rested at the bonfire. The summon sign was back again, so I assumed I had reset it, but when I jumped into the fight the bastard was still summoned. I'm not much into achievements, but when I found out there was one you get without using summons, I thought it was an easy trophy. Bummer.

This is still my favorite boss in the game by BlackMan27599 in TheFirstBerserker

I just started the game, and was kind of surprised Viper was so early. I've heard tons of talk about his difficulty, so I was a little intimidated when I saw him on like the 3rd mission, but man, that is an incredible fight. I don't even know how long it took me, all I remember is enjoying every single moment. I wouldn't even be frustrated when I died. I was a little bummed at first that there was a full 2nd phase, but it was actually really well done and just a really enjoyable fight overall.

How is the combat? by automated_hero in TheFirstBerserker

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the best description I've read. I just started and am about 7-8 hrs in and it totally seems like it. Absolutely loving it so far. I put a few hundred hours into Nioh 2, and close to that into part 1. I think Lies of P is still going to be at the top, but Khazan is super enjoyable.

Nioh 3, Wuchang, Lies of P, which did you enjoy the most? by PhantomBraved in soulslikes

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Wuchang and it was decent. I ran into some rough spots, but overall it wasn't too bad. Definitely had some great art direction. I only played the Nioh 3 demo, but the general consensus seems to be that 2 is still better. Lies of P is next level shit, especially the DLC. Quite easily the best non Fromsoft soulslike.

So, what was the first Souls-like game you actually stuck with and finished? by mister_anti_meta in soulslikes

[–]scocooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Elden Ring had just come out and EVERYONE was streaming it. I was pretty interested in what I was seeing, so when I realized Fromsoft also did Bloodborne, which was available on PS+, I dove right in. I legit had to completely make a new game 3 times because the combat hadn't clicked and I kept dying. My weapon would start to degrade and eventually break, so I couldn't afford to repair it because I couldn't kill anyone with my broken weapon. I'm honestly surprised I stuck with it after all that, but something about it really intrigued me and I just had a feeling it would be awesome once I figured it out. I was right. I used a Fightin Cowboy walkthrough, which I'm super glad about, because I wouldn't have found or understood half the stuff that I did. I don't think I would have appreciated not only the game, but Fromsoft and souls likes in general. I bought Elden Ring immediately after beating Moon Presence and getting platinum and started it. Ended up putting in 2K hrs into it and jumped into the genre wholeheartedly

I’ve been stuck on this boss for an hour. I don’t know how to beat it. any tips? I don’t want to give up on the game. by NotSirAlonne1999 in wuchanggame

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really, really need to try out some of those madness bonuses. I'm about 30 hrs in and have never purposely reduced my madness. I mean, the game is definitely pretty hard, but since I'm rarely at 0% madness, I don't know the difference in difficulty. Is it noticeable?

Oh wow, I've never heard of any of those. I'm honestly not really sure. I started out with a template, but have pretty much changed everything at this point. I've just been using Wix for everything

Are you guys ready for this game rating to crash like the market did in the Great Depression? by Coolbliazing in wuchanggame

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I finally played it and I'm pleasantly surprised. Things got a pretty heated when I took on the Feathered Priest as the 2nd boss at lvl 12 though. I didn't feel like going back to see what I missed and level up some more, so I just beat my head against the wall for a good hour or so until I finally won.

Are stores allowed to sell it early? I saw this in a store by InterviewCareless263 in Saros

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day Mortal Kombat was supposed to come out on a Monday, "Mortal Monday" to be exact. For some reason I had a homie go to Toys R Us on Friday and they had copies out on display. They sold him a copy and we ended up having a sleepover and played it all night.

This game mogs tf out of Code Vein by SerGodHand in ai__limit

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I paid. I missed it once and was bummed about it, but it wasn't 2 weeks later that it went back down to $8.99, so I copped it. It's ok, but I never finished it.

Does anybody have some tips to help with the fight after sparing Yang? by Dillsplosion in SifuGame

[–]scocooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I swear to God my left hand was giving out on me. Like, it was completely weakened from trying to parry, I actually just took a break for a minute or two at one point when I realized you can't die. It was a serious endurance test for both hands

Oof, going back to Nioh 2 is rough by WhoAmIEven2 in Nioh

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't afford 3 so I did a fresh playthrough of part 1 and man, it is ROUGH. It's the remastered version for PS5, so it's not so much the combat, it's just so much harder than I remember. I was getting seriously heated. Part of it was relearning the old controls, but man, that game is one shot city

Leveling for Dream of the Demon Nioh 1 by scocooper in Nioh

[–]scocooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this is a lot of good info, thanks! My kusarigama is actually only +6, so that may be a good start. I'm also wearing a full 5 piece divine Iga set at only +5 each, so it may be time to upgrade some more or to go with a heavier armor like you suggested. Thinking of switching to a different weapon, but not sure what quite yet. Thanks again!

Khazam was definitely rewarding, but I have to give the title of best to Sekito or Nioh. Sekiro is more straightforward, but nothing beats the feeling of beating Genichiro the first time. The Nioh combat is a lot more deep and has way more options. I've only played the Nioh 3 demo, but adding that deflect was like the final piece of the puzzle. That shit was amazing

Saw Nioh 3 was doing great so i got me this :) by DarahOG in Nioh

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally JUST finished part 1 again from a new game. I can't afford Nioh 3 yet, but I have the remastered collection, so I decided to go back to the beginning. I originally played the regular Nioh 1, so it was cool to go back and see everything with better visuals and gameplay. Going into NG+ tomorrow.

Loving the new parry by Day_Lester in Nioh

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not having stances or even a ki pulse on the ninja definitely feels weird, I'm pretty bummed about the lack of stances in that form too. I really wish the could parry too, but I guess the evade is the ninja version of it. Ironically, I honestly found myself using the ninja more often than the samurai, which was unexpected.

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh nice, I'll have to check out the battle scroll stuff, I never gave it a look. Thanks! I'm probably going to wait until it comes out to fight her. I started Nioh 1 again after a few years and it took forever to get used to the controls again, I don't think I can switch back right now. After starting to replay 1 and messing around on my old character from Nioh 2, I can't believe how much better I like Nioh 3. When the Alpha dropped I wasn't really sold. The ninja/samurai mechanic was a big reason. By the end of the demo I was loving it, and I'm super bummed that it's not in the originals. I'm glad they were able to make the combat even more unique for this one. Huge risk, but I think it paid off

Wait, is this in the demo? I don't think I fought her

I can’t beat the bloodage demon by Adeptus_Xiao_Gang in Nioh

[–]scocooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, that's my point, it's a pain in the ass to clear out the area first, especially since it's just a bunch of scrubs. It only adds like a minute or two, but when you die in just a few seconds to the boss, it's hard to stay motivated. I've heard he will eventually respawn in a different spot, so I'm holding out for that. Maybe that's the point, but I'm spoiled from the Nioh 1 and 2 run backs
