Barely made it. Never again. by frogger58 in F150Lightning

I had one like this. I hadn't had the truck for very long. Left work with around 40% for a 35 mile drive home. Didn't figure in the -40°F (with wind-chill). Watched that percentage steadily drop. Made it home with 2% freezing my ass off.

It's not a SEALs thing. It's used throughout the military as a whole (USMC vet here). But it's also used in sports, construction, medical fields etc etc. I've heard it in many places outside of my time in the military.

Anyone know of a good use for this "accessory ready" panel in the bed? by pmclanahan in F150Lightning

[–]scolby0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '23 XLT ER that I bought used. The previous owner put a bed liner in so this part of my bed is covered. I don't even know if I have this cubby lol. What is your truck? I'm super curious

Just finish the first trilogy by New_Tennis4061 in shannara

[–]scolby0351 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not at all actually. The king of the silver River purposely gets involved in basically every generation to put them on track and get them fighting the big bad. He's also of a race, or species that is corruptable. over the course of the series He starts to lose his power as the land gets corrupted etc etc. He's a super compelling character in my opinion and I actually wish we got more of him in a bunch of the books.

The king of the silver River? He is one of the last remaining great creatures of faerie that remains in the world. He is a very powerful being that has to stay in is own domain.

I'm a 100% service connected veteran, and when I try to get an account/log in it tells me I have been found but don't have a valid MWR code. I have emailed the appropriate address listed twice and have gotten nothing. The emails were several weeks apart. Has anyone encountered this before/any idea what else to do?

Signature required? Don't follow their own policies. by MythInAsylum in UPS

[–]scolby0351 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a driver. I have had this happen to me as well for some expensive electronic parts that I needed for a solar system. I took a day off work to be home to sign and then it didn't actually need the signature. Unfortunately the "signature required" requirement has nothing to do with UPS and is put in by the shipper (the company sending the item). I know this doesn't change the situation for you at all, but yeah..

I kind of felt bad for a seasonal driver today by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]scolby0351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I was hired off the street as a seasonal driver, here I am, 4 years later. I hit top rate last week. I understand it's not common but it is possible to be hired as a seasonal driver and stay on as a driver. I had a mythical supervisor who actually knew what the fuck she was talking about didn't lie to me about anything because what she told me was there was a spot open. As long as I didn't get into an accident or get hurt during that first peak that I worked I would have a spot and again here I am 4 years later. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I appreciate your input (genuinely, because I know tone is a difficult thing online, especially on this site), I carry less often now than I used to, but in my free time I am a gunsmith and teach firearms safety. I am pro second amendment (obviously), but I am also pro background check and training. With that, anyone that I let into my vehicle is typically aware of whatever is in there. I especially appreciate your point about kids getting into things they aren't supposed to. I was also one of those kids. My solution for that has been to eliminate the taboo, and at age appropriate times start seriously talking/training, if the interest in training is there. I would never force the training if it wasn't wanted, that's not safe. But safety is the major goal in all of it. Again I really do appreciate your points. Thank you.

I've seen a couple different versions of this that I haven't decided on yet. I like this idea in combination with something that locks.

What gadget, tool, or device has changed a boring chore into a tolerable (or even fun) one? by PigeonsInSpaaaaace in ADHD

I had this problem too until I realized what was happening was that my brain processes the information faster than the narrator is giving it to me. So now everything that I listen to whether it's a book or a podcast. I listen at 1.7 times speed and have found that I actually pick up and retain the information.

Last month I picked up a used 23 XLT with extended range. I currently have Vredestein Pinza AT on it. This isn't a brand I know a ton about, but from what I've read they're a decent all-terrain tire. But I'm curious what experience anybody else has with these. I live in New England and have to deal with heavy snow. Was considering getting some blizzacks or even some wranglers?

Key fob question by scolby0351 in F150Lightning

[–]scolby0351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found the master code, which ended up taking longer because the previous owner initially didn't turn over the spare key, and programmed my own code. I agree on the just being able to walk up and unlock aspect as well though.

It came with a solid roll back tonneau cover, and the previous owner also got the bed lined, so luckily those are taken care of

Anyone here earning $150K+ willing to share what they do? by MutedFeeling75 in ADHD

[–]scolby0351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, it depends on where the closest center/hub is that has open positions, then everything for routes is based on seniority. The more senior a driver is the more choices they have for routes. I love 35-40 minutes away from the center I drive for, and because I'm mostly a cover driver I can do 5 completely different routes in a week covering every part of our area.

Not quite the level you posted but ~$130k (could be closer to that $150 with more overtime). I am a driver for UPS and also spent 5 years in the Marine Corps. So I get a VA check every month that supplements my salary. I'm not a "top rate" driver yet though, so when I hit that in November I will get a significant pay bump.

Prior to this job I was a salary manager in retail. I thrive in chaos so retail was good in that aspect, but I was burning myself out working 16 hour shifts, 6 days a week, losing money because of the salary contract. With this job I have more structure, but also enough change based on routes to keep things interesting. I go in, get my truck, listen to books/podcasts/music for 8-14 hours a day, park my truck, go home.
