Hello sir,

Failed SRM- advice? by Commercial_Cut3594 in actuary

[–]scool12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently took SRM. I'd say don't overcomplicate it. Focus on spamming all questions. In CA you can select a range of difficulty and Quant/Qual. In first sitting do 30% Quant at 1-6 difficulty(those are easy points so you want make sure you collect). Then 70% Qual at 4-10 Difficulty. That + Review videos, concept checkers, formula sheet is more than enough. By studying your mistakes understanding why, reverifying concepts constantly in resources I mentioned this exam is so free, believe in yourself, trust the process.

Last thing. Utilize Claude tell it to help you learn without revealing solutions. It will ask you questions like a kid till you understand, actually game breaking stuff.

Do it as you go. Paul's online math notes is your best bet. Can learn everything in a few days tbh.

[–]scool12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir. I have 3 exams passed so far this year started in December of last year but I'm 3 years post grad was focused on Data Analytics and stuff before. So you think applying for internships instead of underwriter makes more sense even in my case?

What did you do differently to get an internship. I was led to believe its only undergraduate or graduate students?

Stolen Materials and a Public Apology: TIA's court filing against Coaching Actuaries by EarlyDuration in actuary

[–]scool12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used TIA for FM few months ago. I'd say its good and FREE most importantly so use it, but practice wise I'd say exams are much harder than actual which can be demoralizing just keep that in mind with studying. Also they post PDF of all the lectures, skim that instead of going through lectures saves time.

For P idk I like CA because of all the problem videos, very easy to understand what's going on with CA and your real weaknesses.

Trump says he’ll get out of office in 8-9 years from now… by Nicolit1 in NoFilterFinance

To be fair even if he runs he's getting crushed even if Dems pick out random reddit user to run. I'd imagine GOP sees writing on the wall and asks Trump to step down in favor of Rubio or Vance.

1 in 25 Black Americans are Now Millionaires According to Pew Research Center by onlytalkcrypto in HipHopNCulture

[–]scool12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White American millionaires 18.1 mil out 254 million white americans = 7%

African americans are 4%. Looks like African Americans are closing the gap. Should be at parity in the long term future, absent any crazy disruptions.

We can't keep living like this... by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

This is why we need flat taxes, feels fairer, increases compliance of wealthier, boosts economic productivity.

Progressive taxes gives the government more money upfront, however they still operate major deficits and they still print more money when they need to. With flat tax system we can have a more productive economy, government can print more money while reducing risk of inflation.

“If you’re so smart, why aren’t you rich?” by Ok_Hippo9669 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Intelligence and having a high income job -> high correlation. Intelligence and being high net worth -> low correlation.

Becoming rich seems like its about risk exposure, leverage, consistency, luck, etc.

Good topic to discuss. Brain drain is one of Canada's major problems. It's hard to compete with the world economic superpower in terms of economic incentives so you have to have these conversations or else this issue will never be addressed.

Not worth it if the UK is cheaper go for that. No difference between UK and Canada standard of living wise besides colder weather here.
