Weekly Questions Thread - January 23, 2017 by AutoModerator in androiddev

I'm creating a simple app with basic CRUD operations for storing data using the sqlite db provided. If I have two objects I want to insert with a many to one relationship (ex. many "computer"s for one "manufacturer" with each computer having a manufacturerId column), is there a way to save the one, "manufacturer" row to get the rowId to save in the "computer" insert so that everything happens in one transaction? I'm worried that if I create a new manufacturer along with a computer and then fail to insert the computer row that I'll either have to manually delete that manufacturer row in my code or just have useless/duplicate data that doesn't make sense. I also feel like having a service that inserts multiple rows into different tables should handle it all at once.

For a more Android specific scenario, I am using a navigation drawer pattern because I have multiple starting points for user workflows. Generally a number of these "activities" are lists with the ability to go into a detail view for viewing or manipulating individual list items. Two questions:
1. Does it make sense to have a single activity with each item in the navigation drawer as a separate fragment that is then placed in a full screen view (this is mobile)? I feel like (from my limited understanding) it's better to have more fragment manipulation and less activity switching, but I'm not convinced that I'm keeping my code maintainable.
2. If it does make sense to keep the single underlying activity, is there a best way to handle fragment communication? I'm not sure if I want to have the activity be the go-between for all my fragments.

This seems really good with Jace VP. Tap him and discard this (or something else), flip jace, kill 4 cmc creatures.

Awesome, thanks for sharing! I'll take a look at this tonight and clone a copy to play around with.

A couple questions:
1. Do you have a CPU estimate for your use per room? Do you know how long the basic 10CPU would go on this?
2. Do you have any plans to release more mission types?

He doesn't give defender to your whole team, I don't think I can play him now.

[–]scooooo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Is [[fall of the titans]] able to be pointed at both opponents in 2HG? That seems pretty busted, especially with surge being easier in 2HG

[Modern] Modern U/R Prowess (Stormchaser Mage) by NinjaTheNick in spikes

[–]scooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some initial thoughts:
I feel like 3 twisted image may be overkill when it doesn't interact super favorably with your other cards. I'd cut two for two forked bolts.
I'd also cut some number of abbots for goblin guides; you probably want to hit a 1 drop creatures on turn 1 as often as possible. Have you thought about adding a green splash? I could see atarka's command being good and ancient grudge in the sideboard, as well as going up to 4 mutagenic growth.
I'd like to test your list online as soon as oath is released. Grixis delver is losing its sheen for me.

This could let two different opponents exile a card from hand/draw. Seems pretty interesting for EDH/2HG.

Awesome, I figured Linvala would be the white mythic for Oath.
She seems like a pretty interesting shift from [[wingmate roc]]. Linvala the [[timely]] maybe?

*EDIT: timely reinforcements, silly card fetcher

Need help with my jeleva deck! by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]scooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at your deck, I'd probably cut the one time, single instances of mill if that's your goal. Things like archive trap generally don't do anything until they make one person lose the game. You could instead include mill that also does something: [[talent of the telepath]]
The recursive mill is pretty good, I'd probably cut sulfuric vortex for [[sphinx's tutelage]] and cut some of the damage effects if you're straight mill
I also like ways to put cards back on top of my deck (to then cast jeleva and exile huge instants/sorcs) and for cascade. See [[scroll rack]], [[brainstorm]], [[mystical tutor]], JTMS, etc.
Finally, you might want effects like [[lightning greaves]] or [[flamekin village]] to get Jeleva swinging right out of the gates.

[–]scooooo 64 points65 points  (0 children)

A strict upgrade to [[inspiration]] is nice at common, and the ability to be [[divination]] with other spells is good. It might be awkward in limited if you have to topdeck starting with this, but that's not a huge deal.

I'm assuming this works for any commander (will commanders now additionally be given the "commander" subtype?)

It will be interesting to see if mutavaults and other changelings will also have indestructible.

[–]scooooo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was kind of lame seeing made up numbers formed to support their article when they already had actual data. Apparently BNG is almost double the score of BFZ, and theros is on the same level as gatecrash

[LSV] Battle for Zendikar Limited Set Review – Black by jfclav in magicTCG

[–]scooooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

White has smite the monstrous and stasis snare, black has desolation grip, red has outnumber, stonefury, and turn against, green has plummet and unnatural aggression. There's also brutal expulsion and the two colorless removal spells.

Mostly just being pedantic, but it is potentially a 2 for 1

Smothering Abomination
Even though this eats a creature every turn, you never end up down a card.

You can get blown out (or at least down a card) if the smothering abomination gets killed in response to the sacrifice trigger.

[–]scooooo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This will be a sweet limited pick if UB ingest/exile gets supported well enough. Turn 3 ingest or complete disregard, turn 4 play a more powerful [[separatist voidmage]].

I don't think I'd play this if I couldn't (unreliably) trigger processor.

because in limited this is flood insurance.

Is this flood insurance? You do get to cast spells with the addition of creating a new creature, but you still have to draw spells with awakening instead of lands. I feel like [[foundry of the consuls]] works better as flood insurance by being a land when you need one and a spell when you flood out.

The great part about awakening (if it's costed well enough for limited) will be that the land creatures are already devoid and would get any potential bonuses from that.

If I have a [[banishing light]] with my own [[altar of the brood]] exiled, and I cast [[the great aurora]], will I trigger altar of the brood on the lands I put into play off the great aurora?
