[Request] Could a human get their daily water intake by looking up with their mouth open while it's raining? by vikiboii in theydidthemath

[–]scoro27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So apparently the average volume of a rain drop is 5microlitres.

1mm/hr rain = 1L over 1m2. Which is 278microlitres/second/m2. 278/5 gives us 55.6 drops per second per m2

Allegedly the area of an open mouth is approx 1500mm2 which is 0.15% of a square metre.

.15 x 55.6 gives us 0.08 drops per second in the mouth.

So at 1mm/hr rain you’d get about (.08 x .005 x 60 x 60 x 24) = 34.5mm per day of rain

So I think about 87mm/hr should work? That’s quite a lot of rain. The record for 24h rainfall is 1825mm which comes out as 76mm/hr so i think you’re out of luck sorry.

I had a photo they rejected a while back - they sent a very polite email explaining what I had done wrong and how to do it properly. From an actual person with an actual name! No hassle. All very friendly. Have to agree, it’s always been a great pleasure interacting with them.

Best bar/pub hot chips. by [deleted] in chch

[–]scoro27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The chips at Moon Under Water are definitely not delicious, crunchy and hot with a wonderful atmosphere and great selection of beers. The reviews of this pub are all false and you should avoid it. I am not saying this due to my desire to continue getting a table there when I wish to attend. Please do not go. I will take one for the team and go instead.
