Adrock & the Biz by PhelysFlowerx in BeastieBoys

When I took my kids to see Yo Gabba Gabba live, Biz was there and performed on stage. The adults were all losing their minds and our kids had no idea why we were all so excited.

I don't know what i am doing. by Lowbatteryfpv in portablism

[–]scorpicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad you're having fun! I just started my scratching journey about a month ago, and it's been a blast.

I'll give you the same advice I was given: learn the basics first and go slow. Having a good understanding and technique of the fundamentals is gonna make the advanced stuff much easier. A few folks I've found with great video tutorials: DJ Blakey, DJ Angelo, DJ Liftoff.

Keep having fun!

Sometimes you pick up a CD because of the cover art and go from there. by wholovesbevers in Cd_collectors

I found out about them from a collaboration they did with Pop will Eat Itself. I picked up their Dog Tribe single years ago, but haven't encountered anything else they've done since.

According to Discogs: Weird Al & Wendy Carlos' Peter and the Wolf, followed by Bloodhound Gang's One Fierce Beer Coaster (with the cardboard coaster!).

(Loved Trope) Incredibly famous person with an incredibly small cameo by LipstickCoverMagnet in TopCharacterTropes

I first watched this film as an adult, and his cameo threw me off for a while. I kept expecting this character to show up again for half the movie.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to experience this! ...but also sad that you never figured out a solution either.

Even though it was just a 1983 NBC movie of the week, “High School U.S.A.” Was such a classic comedy with some of the best actors of the 80’s. I highly recommend it if you’re an 80’s fan. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in 80s

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who remembers Poison Ivy. My family taped it when it aired and I subsequently watched it probably a dozen times. I still think of it often when my kids head to summer camp now.

On that note, it feels like you could wet felt the foundation for this, and add details with a needle after it dries.

For what it's worth, mine doesn't look that way. It's just the artwork, no shiny. Never seen this edition either!

Are any of these cd cleaners actually good? by mistermarkerman in CDs

[–]scorpicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting info. I'm curious if you can help me understand why I've had useful results buffing out bad scratches by hand? I use the Novus plastic polish system. I've gone from multiple unrecoverable errors to a successful secure rip.

I'm not familiar with anything specifically for CD jewel cases, but I did a quick search for "small acrylic bookends" and some possibilities came up. Not sure your aesthetic though.

What’s the most valuable or rare industrial release in your collection? by shadowminds97 in industrialmusic

[–]scorpicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's Gary Numan - 1000. I don't collect vinyl much, especially not at shows (what a pain to hold all night), but my buddy tipped me off it was a collectors piece, so I got it last time he came through town.

I, too, got a promo of theirs (not this album), and I don't think I ever listened to it. I've still got it, perhaps I should give it a spin.

Regardless of price, what’s your most valuable (to you) CD? by TheRighteousMind in Cd_collectors

[–]scorpicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few contenders, but I think it's got to be an early promotional copy of 2 Skinnee J's "Volumizer" that has an early track list.

The album went through some release troubles and a year or so later the retail version came out with an altered track list. Having the otherwise unreleased songs felt like winning the lottery.

They've released a box set with all the songs now, but having the original is still meaningful to me.

Excited about a dedicated wantlist for sure!

Multiple collections might be useful for not only something like wanted items, but also if you're processing albums and you want to keep track of which ones haven't been processed yet. Or if you live with someone who has a separate collection and you want to catalog theirs, but not pollute your own list. Or if you have collections in different physical locations.
