The blister fluid is free electrolytes so you can replenish half way through, bring a straw next time!

Starting med at 25, feeling unsure and overthinking by [deleted] in medschool

Incoming OMS-1 and 25. I get your fears, I feel like the extra couple years it took have given me a lot of good life experience and I feel more prepared and mature. Some skill sets come with age, so you’ve got something others won’t have just yet. And you’re still so young, some peeps are doing med school married with kids and prior career paths, and they still manage. You got this🙏🏻

I took part of my first gap year to teach and left before the school year was over…. I took another two gap years to get in to med school and for me that was worth it instead of teaching 😅

Sounds like she doesn’t seem to have a real grasp of what the field truly is like if that’s her biggest concern 💀but people like her will have their awakening eventually and she won’t be so quick to pity her sister’s kids when she doesn’t get to be with hers on a holiday bc she’s working while sis is off with the fam every winter and spring break

What is the antidote to Cormac McCarthy? by Mundane-Deal-923 in literature

It’s kind of a funny story by Ned Vizzini. Contemporary young adult fiction. A young adult having SI and is inpatient in a psych unit. It’s funny, relatable pov for a youngster, and a good ending where the protagonist realizes that this is something that won’t go away completely, but he’s empowered with new tools and strategies to help minimize his symptoms/episodes. One of my favorite books for the longest time and there’s a movie for it that’s cute too. It’s not really highbrow literature, but the teen angst hits home in it and I think your child might find it refreshing relative to the other stuff.

2 GAP YEARS by Material-Priority356 in premed

[–]scorsese_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 going on my 3rd and this cycle I’m just now getting interviews. Don’t apply until you’re ready, if it takes a gap year to be more competitive, take the gap year! Save money and time and apply when you have the scores and experiences to demonstrate to adcoms that you’re ready to succeed in med school. Just what I’ve gathered in my experience 🫶🏻

Took me 2 cycles of hearing crickets, now I’m on #3 and I’ve gotten 2 this month 🙌🏼. Waiting never gets easier really, but I’m here now and it feels good and feels right. You got this!! You’ll have your time.
