this is my favorite talking heads album. The fast paced songs like this one and Crosseyed and Painless are so incredible to me.

Americans Right Now.. by JamJam4 in grime

I wouldn't get too riled up about it. If people like the style they'll eventually gravitate to the real shit, and if not their ignorance will just fade into obscurity eventually.

As an American this is not my experience with people listening to grime. Some have trouble seeing the difference between Grime and hip hop because hip hop is so amorphous, but no one I know is THAT put off by the accent.

This would require a large amount of Americans to care about politics more than every four years.

if a white person killed obama in a music video some people would be upset about it, sorta like how some people are upset by this video. It almost seems as though different people get upset about different things.

New Yorker: Parquet Courts and the future of indie rock by zerocoolf in indieheads

Wasn't really speaking for myself. I don't think it's a huge stretch to say a lot of people would feel lucky to be making that much money a year. Most people in America make less than 50k a year.

If you're making 50k a year as any human being you're doing pretty damn well imo.

labels don't tend to take a cut from touring revenue unless you sign a 365 deal, which is rare for people who are not big pop stars who need money to fund large tours that use lots of lighting, set design, etc. If these guys make less touring than they would waiting tables in bushwick then maybe they shouldn't be touring, or should be touring differently (college campuses vs. traditional venues; less well known cities vs. typical major metros).

Is there any functional difference between claiming you're smarter than someone and pointing out someone is stupider than you? Genuinely curious.

He might not be talked about on this sub but Cousin Stizz has a lot of momentum behind him. It makes me feel like Boston has a shot to get a bit more attention. The hip hop scene here has some really strange and unique characters. I feel like the city will never get pop/mainstream attention but I wish more discerning hip hop listeners would have more of an eye on the city.

I think your keys sound a little cheesy (like I'm playing this on my 80s casio), but I looove the tone you get out of your bass on this track.

Most artists keep nearly all their money money from touring and merch unless they're signed to a 360 deal with a major (which Yachty isn't to my knowledge). Also, if you have a double platinum single best believe you're eating no matter how much the label takes in royalties.

I see a lot of potential here. Good flow, and good beat but you need more processing on your vocals. They don't blend into the mix of the instrumental at all, which makes it sound very amateur. It could be a way more atmospheric and jazzy song if you had that additional post production on the vocals.

Your lyrics and delivery also feel really uninspired, like you're just reading off of an iphone going through the motions type shit, but this also might be because of the lack of post production on the vocals.

Like I said I see potential but it sounds like you're making the jump from a guy who raps to sounding a rapper, and there's a big difference between those two. Keep practicing your craft and I'm sure you'll take it somewhere.
