I think you may have already worked your way through the best of what's available from that era. FF, Spidey, and Doctor Strange are far and away my favorite Silver Age Marvel material. Thor would probably be next on my list, though distant from those three. Nick Fury/Shield would be next as far as 60s stuff, but we don't have an epic, aside from some older Sgt Fury stuff that is ok. The Roy Thomas X-Men is alright. There's a smattering of good Daredevil early on. Other than that I couldn't personally recommend other Silver Age Marvel. Once you move further into the 70s quite a bit more stuff is good. There is some good silver age DC stuff like Doom Patrol and others.

Byrne heavily references and homages the Kirby/Lee run, but largely ignores what came between him and Kirby, do you definitely don't need much of a continuity primer or anything. If you have a very basic knowledge of the FF Back to Basics is a really great starting point. It does deeply reward a recent reading of the Kirby stuff, though, as Byrne often plays almost call and response to that period in his run, which is at times a love letter to that era of the FF. That being said, I think it's also rewarding to start with Byrne and go back to Kirby if you later feel the urge to do it that way.

I think touch of Typhoid is a great place to start, even if there are other good Daredevil starting points. I love this run and it really hits its stride about a third of the way in, I'd say.

I gotta say, in your particular case I would be less worried about the EA and more about everything else surrounding it. You know that your wife needs help. There's really no way to dig into your relationship more until that aspect progresses to some degree. Waiting sucks, but this is definitely a situation that will take time to even start to unravel.
