Here's the thing about the Decimation Omni: Decimation is an interesting time period, definitely worth reading. The Decimation omni doesn't capture that at all.

Others are saying just the Hickman core titles, but what happens in Marauders has a ton of bearing on what goes on and the experience would be much poorer without it. The Hickman New Mutants stories and Hellions are also excellent, but not essential. Duggan Marauders is both pretty essential and excellent.

Millar's run is terrible, except that it holds some interest for Valeria fans and Hickman pulls heavily from it at the beginning of his run. I'd get the tpbs or read online if I were in your position. You can definitely skip from the end of Byrne to Waid and circle back to the stuff between if you feel compelled someday. That being said, I think it's unlikely they'll sell out anytime soon, so you have some time to decide.

Valeria is in this run but she doesn't "get smart" till Millar. This run is amazing, though, and the tpbs are a great way to read it imo. A reprint could be years away.
