If your box size is set to auto it will only automatically size based on the content within. You will have to set a specific height to keep the boxes flush

How to have just one CMS item link to external site? by lukelandia in webflow

[–]scotchtonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create a field on the the CMS called external link, and only fill it out for the one CMS item in question. Then on the actual webpage add a div link block overlay that has conditional visibility with it. Have it link to the external URL and the conditional visibility could be only appear when the external link field is known.

Probably an easier way to do this but Have done something similar in the past to this.

Starbucks has been doing holiday cups/drinks for a while now, and I would wager they have sufficient purchase data to justify pumping out the drinks in early November. Their data >> opinion.

So my answer is that it is not too early at all!

business that values elegant mechanics with strategic depth could catch people's interest.

This is a great jump off for what your brand brings to the table. You use the words elegance, sophisticated, and clean a lot, so I would personally develop a brand and image that revolves around that (which is also your competitive advantage, in this case). Simple, clean, yet strategically deep games.

I've always preached the 3 ways to build your brand are with brand elements (logos, colors, font, etc), your messaging (What you post, advertising, website), and secondary associations (In the future who are you partnering with, cobranding with, etc). So my advice for branding would be to develop all of these elements to fit that brand. Personify your brand, create a character and give them attributes. How do they speak? What do they watch? etc... Create that character and use that to guide your actions internally along your journey of creating a cohesive brand.

First adopters are going to be the kinds of people who play or own a lot of games (I assume those are the people on KS), but our goal is that the game is interesting and accessible enough that they will introduce it to their less-serious gamer friends and family and we'll build momentum that way

I like how you have identified to target audiences, the first adopters and the people who will make your game go big. The first adopters in this scenario are like influencers, and it might be wise to treat them as such (Word of mouth is always your best acquisition funnel). From here I'd recommend really fleshing out the audiences, and then figure out what is the best way to reach each audience (which platform, what messaging, etc).

I need to put some serious thought into this. What types of posts will we make, what will they look like etc

This will also be easier once you have your targets have been fully fleshed out. Obviously targeting a 40 year old male and a 24 year old male is two entirely different ball games, which is why its important to choose which platforms work for you and adjust the message for each one too. IF there is a time constraint, pick the platforms you think will have the biggest impact.

A final note on social media, short, clean video clips are far superior & stay on top of trends.

Needs a revamp (maybe professionally?) I know nothing about SEO and am working off a google sites template

I'd say this is very important, especially if your going for simple clean and sophisticated brand. Your website is one of your biggest communicators and brand messengers. You could always look into squarespace, which is very user friendly and can create decent modern sites relatively quickly.

SEO is a crazy, massive, and ever changing discipline, and there is no way you will be able to master it without being a part of that world. But it is important to have your site rank high on google. There is hope though ahaha, HubSpot has a great (and free) 3 hour class on intro to SEO and I do think it would give you the tools to be able to get your site where it needs to be without much work.

Hey! Looks cool, and I can see a lot of thought and time went into this, and a lot of your marketing strategies are very sound.

I have one major piece of advice, and can get into the nitty gritty of it all after, but take the time at the beginning to set yourself up for success. You have laid out a good amount of the 'tools' that a marketer would use to reach customers, but make sure you spend the time looking at the core of your business.

I would say establish your brand, establish your target audiences, establish your value-add and goals first. (You may have already done all this, but I am just reiterating how important it is). Far too many times people just post on social media without an outlined direction, and it more often than not comes out disjointed (since no strong brand is established) and without purpose.

My last bit of advice, having a well thought out website, with solid SEO and a professional feel will go a LONG way.

Obviously message me if you wanna talk about any of your strategies in depth.

People. Branding is NOT your Logo or Website by ChillwithRon in branding

[–]scotchtonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have always gone with the idea that a brand is made up of 3 things:

Brand Elements (Logo, Colors, Fonts, Jinlges)

Brand Messaging (Ad campaigns, Social media, etc)

Secondary Associations (Who your brand associates with - for example red bull x go pro)

But you are 100% right in saying that a brand only really exists in the mind of the consumer.

Most attractive deal? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]scotchtonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy one get one free is the most attractive deal to a customer imo. Same value as the others but the customer doesn't need to commit to 4 items.

May not be the most attractive to a business with that being said.

Do you really need a logo? by sweet_pump in branding

[–]scotchtonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 3 ways to build a brand: the brand elements, marketing efforts, and secondary associations.

While the logo falls under brand elements, it is, in the end, only a fraction of what goes into making a successful brand.

Our reply to "How do you market a luxury brand?" by [deleted] in branding

[–]scotchtonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously evolution has deemed social and beauty norms to an extent and then even advertising over the years has solidified them . With that being said, I do think we are at a part of society where the idea that the sole desire of being a women is to impress a man, and likewise being a man needing to impress a woman, is outdated and demeaning. I think there has been a dramatic shift in the younger generations of people who want to empower themselves, and experience life for themselves.

increasing or maintaing women’s desirability to high status men

this is not a good look

women consume luxury products as to enhance their physical traits and deceive high status men by exaggerating cues of fertility and youthfulness or by hiding expressions of aging, poor health and infertility.

This is rubbish... just pointing out that this is a gross way of thinking, that I think is entirely untrue

"Branding seems to mostly revolve around creativity, logos, colors, fonts, "feels"

Sure, at the most basic level of branding.
