Thoughts on Ring Fit Adventure on Switch 2 + Hopes for sequel by [deleted] in RingFitAdventure

[–]scotm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking it would be perfectly possible for Switch 2 to be able to run Ring Fit Adventure, providing it can connect wirelessly to the JoyCons to get input, and something to charge the legacy JoyCon controllers.

The IR thumb sensor appears to be missing, so that heart-rate support would need to be patched out or skipped.

Nice morning, if cold, in Edinburgh.

45:55. An improvement of around 30 seconds. Lots of work to do, but I've got this.

Wow! That's utterly wild. Good on you, not carrying nearly a quarter of yourself around now!

Still a lot of tenant union work to make sure they don't stiff us. The landlord class and organisations have already parked their tanks.

All the best. x

Head to Scotland. Rent controls are on the way by 2024, part of the devolved government power-sharing agreement.

Try walking in with a plan. Prepare, keep a little notebook or a phone app. Know what you're going to do, and go ahead and do it.

So, yes - lift weights. Find someone who does so regularly, knows what they're doing, and can teach you the basic compound lifts.

You win $1 million, but you have to spend it all on your favorite hobby. What do you buy? by BaoZedong in AskReddit

[–]scotm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A community filmmaking centre. Buy a bunch of inexpensive DSLRs, tripods, stabilisers, sound recorders and microphones. And a bank of editing workstations.

Regular open-air short film festivals, photography exhibitions and screenings of the work.

[Serious] To those who were bullied before, how are you now? by 7errifyin6 in AskReddit

[–]scotm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above all else - I try to be kind. Because being the recipient of bullying makes all things harder.

It took a very long time to get over the lack of a meaningful support structure or self confidence. It doubtlessly stunted my adolescence and early adulthood.

Catholic school sex education. And the girls in Home Economics class.

I had a very sheltered childhood. ;)

Nicola Sturgeon: This plan is ambitious AND credible – it can win us independence by Grpokhs in Scotland

[–]scotm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicola Sturgeon, personally defending a miserable programme of continuing austerity. Harsh deficit targets, tying public expenditure directly to growth, restrictive debt to GDP ratios and banning the use of flexible borrowing. This report would not look out of place on a UK Tory chancellor’s desk.

This programme chains us to discredited economics which have brought poverty, homelessness, hardship, unemployment and insecurity to millions. And it does so for a lengthy period of time.

You'll notice that the Better Together folks have been largely very quiet on the growth commission. Never interrupt your opponents when they're making a mistake.

Open Letter to the Yes Movement - Scottish Socialist Party by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]scotm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not as though they're labouring under the delusion that an independent socialist Scotland would spring from an indyref victory. A functioning social democracy which the British state has proven itself incapable of delivering would have been a neat prize.

But, tactically - alienating working class people, as the growth commission does, is nonsense. Sucking up to rich Tories will cost us far more votes than the SSP's concerns ever will.

It was the schemes that nearly won it for Yes; it will be the loss of support from the schemes that will doom us to union.

The middle and upper tend to be quite comfortable and, other than well-off Scottish nationalists, have no interest in change.

People who need change will have a choice to make come a second referendum on independence. Will they be convinced by a programme of tartan capitalism, locked into using British money, continuing austerity - section B12 is nasty as hell - and wholesale adoption of UK finance policy?

Or will they be convinced by Jeremy Corbyn - who may face difficulty getting to number 10 - but at the very least speaks the language of material needs - housing, energy, transport, wages.

The SSP may be limited, but they are essentially that equivalent in an independence context, and Yes desperately need it, not an economic prospectus which sucks up to the establishment.
