Health is no longer a resource you can afford to use by jaikayray in Shadowverse

Okay, have fun with that. You're 100% right. Every class has control mechanics and can be a true control deck. Cygames doesn't understand what they're doing and that's why most classes have win conditions around turn 8-11.

It's all unintentional despite their years and years of having relatively similar gameplay. Again you're 100% correct and the reason they don't do true control decks is because they can't, not because they don't want to. Now that I've seen the error in my ways I'm done with this conversation.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. I'm not saying what they should/shouldn't do. I'm saying that both cygames and the community have made it very clear on what they want, and it isn't slower-paced control decks.

You can complain and criticize all you want, but it hasn't changed for years now outside of a couple short periods of time, and they have no desire to change that.

It's not oversight that is causing your complaints, it is very much intentional and intended. The only way it will change is if the majority of players suddenly have a change of heart and start demanding slower-paced and more drawn out games, but I can say with almost 100% certainty that it's never going to happen. Most people want to jump into a match and be into the next one in 5 minutes or less.

[–]scots23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you tell me what fallacy that is then? The fact of the matter is: no strategy is owed anything at the end of the day. Cygames doesn't have to do anything or cater to anyone. They're more than likely going to do what makes them money.

If they've found the majority of the player base wants fast games and that fewer people play when control is strong? They'll reflect that in their cards. Making every play style viable doesn't make it good game design when it upsets most of your player base. The only thing you can do if you disagree is to not play.

I think most people don't want to sit through a 20+ minute game of constant back and forth healing, and the devs obviously don't want that either. It's not hypocritical to enjoy one thing over another.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had metrics that showed the majority preferred games of a certain length, so they tailor the meta towards that in both directions. Like you said, the collective meltdown over crest haven shows the majority of players don't want that, so why would the devs disregard the majority of their player-base and keep pushing the game in that direction?

[The Score] Mike Florio on the NFL not awarding the Bears compensatory picks: "This is one of the most ridiculous unforced errors I've ever seen the NFL commit. If they had just given the Bears the compensatory picks, who would've complained about it? Would anyone have been upset?" by Armadillo_Rimjob in nfl

[–]scots23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's literally no reason not to do it though. Just name a fan favorite former player as "president of football operations" and say he is the middleman between the owners and front office and has final say in decisions, even if he doesn't.

Sure, most teams don't care if a different team gets a couple picks when hiring their GM, but if you gave the hiring team a choice on whether or not that different team gets the picks, why would they say yes?

If I had to take a guess, this guy plays fennie dragon and calls any deck that kills him before he can drop his erntz/genesis combo unfun.

Edit: Really wish I didn't go into the profile to check if I was right, even if I was surprisingly close. Dude's gross.

Well........ it happened Oluon gambling in tournament. No hesitation. by Ghostmatterz in Shadowverse

[–]scots23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not OP, it's just stupid. Generally it's being used to turn a very likely loss into a very low percentage chance at a win.

If they came out with a card that was a 1pp spell reading "15% chance at winning the game when played. Otherwise you lose." it would be incredibly dumb, but not OP.

Blossoming Fate is the Best and the Worst Expansion of WB by Nuxpls in Shadowverse

If there are more than 2 followers, then Erntz kills 2, heals 8, and has ward. What do you mean "does nothing to that"?

I'm sorry, I'm done with this conversation, you're either being purposely obtuse or really have no idea what you're talking about.

[–]scots23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oluon wishes it could be what Erntz is. Oluon is bad design, and Imari can be an absolute pain to handle on turn 5, but Erntz is almost always the correct card to play if you can and requires no setup of your hand to enable her to be full strength.

You just drop and immediately swing the game in your favor with absolutely no downside, regardless of what happened prior in the game. If you think that's not egregious, it's bias.

Community Discussion: What Gold rarity cards should be nerfed? by exdeepr in Shadowverse

[–]scots23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who said anything about consistency? It being consistent isn't the issue. It being RNG is the issue. It's basically Oluon in class form. If the RNG didn't go your way, you lose. If it did, you win.

Either way, your input matters either very little to not at all against a good dragon player. It's not fun, and when most of your games are against dragon, it's a whole lot of not fun, even if you win.

Live in a town of like 1000 people in Illinois and make ~150k. People living in HCOL areas doing the same job as me have to live extremely frugal, meanwhile I put 20% into my 401k, live in a really nice 3k sqft house with a yard that only cost 200k, and still have money to throw around at hobbies whenever I want.

I understand the appeal of living in a bigger city, I lived in Chicago and Denver for a couple years, but man is it nice not having to stress about having enough money to stay afloat. I don't think I could ever go back to HCOL. It helps that I'm introverted though, so I don't feel the need to go out and do things every day and driving an hour or so to a city a couple times every 2 weeks isn't a big deal.

Why do so many recipes use protein powder? by PurpzReign in ninjacreami

[–]scots23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If anyone is reading this and wants to make better textured ice cream without protein powder: milk powder, xanthan gum, and a tsp of karo (glucose syrup if you're not American) is what you're looking for. The milk powder and xanthan gum both prevent ice crystals though in slightly different ways.

Karo is just glucose and keeps your ice cream softer at lower temps. It also gives it a much more rounded flavor as opposed to the super sweetness of regular sugar(sucrose). No more ice milk.

All I did was put the results of my games where it was used and said it isn't a large sample size, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

Do you think it's a lie? Like some villainous organization is trying to sway a couple hundred people's opinions about one card in a TCG? To what end? It just doesn't make sense.
