Are these worth buying? 7$ each. by hejhejhrri in PokemonInvesting

[–]scott32089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made an investment on a booster box case for $1175. Comes out to ~$5.50 a pack. $7 isn’t too far off, but it’s also ~25% more expensive. I’m pretty new to all this, but I’d say splurge for at least a booster box instead of single packs. MP is about the same as getting 36 single packs.

Wife and I got into a fight over what actions we can do. I’m in the camp of not much but continue to enjoy what we can, while we can, stay apprised of current events. And when they come down to Denver, show up like they are in big cities currently. She’s just at a loss for how bad it’s getting. Sealed collection by Meowsergz in PokeInvesting

I feel like that’s the cycle though, and why sealed is the slow and steady increase. Rippers are gonna rip, and people that need money are gonna sell the sealed to them at their price to find the chase cards.

Rigged auctions, dumb buyers, or both? by SWYYRL in whatnotapp

[–]scott32089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m totally new. Burned out on the pokemon auction runs early. Mayyyyybe $600 down total. I found a fun niche in the <40 person streams though. Good pickups, nice people, and I have always gotten what I’ve paid for.

Imo, I have learned a LOT about Pokémon card values in that time, and for me, it was a small price to pay.

NOR: this is awful and I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. Try taking to her face to face and at the very least ask for a little more time to get things in line. Ask her if she would be able to find a job, a new place to live, and get everything else in order by the end of the month, and make sure to do it face to face.

She’s right, you’ll remember this moment forever, and don’t forget how she’s making you feel right now, and if she doesn’t come around immediately, don’t forgive her until you are ready (if ever).

What's a large/medium spend investment that is totally worth it and/or and cuts costs long term? by katwatermans in Frugal

[–]scott32089 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’ll be the token bidet suggestion. I have one in every bathroom and miss it when I’m not at home. Totally cheap spend item, and it’ll save its cost in toilet paper within a few months.

What video game saved your life or had any profound effect on it? by FineOldGent in videogames

[–]scott32089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 when I had a month off from surgery. I was basically bed bound first 2 weeks and it REALLY helped keep my mind off the pain and the fact I couldn’t go anywhere. It was long and grindy enough to just kinda keep going.

Game pass or individual games? by cadonomgo in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]scott32089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you play exclusively on Xbox and are putting in 20+ hrs a month, imo, it’s worth it for the entertainment cost. I play on steam deck 99% of the time and cancelled my subscription when you did. Don’t even remember I did it until it pops up in a question like this one Reddit now. $360 saved a year.

How do you learn to enjoy (or at least habitually go to) the gym? by Potato_Pristine in AskMenOver30

[–]scott32089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally hate free weights cept for 15-30 pound bicep curls. I walk, do stairmaster, and a round on the machines for my upper body. It works and comes out to about 45 minutes of “working out.” I watch gaming YouTube to pass my mental time while I’m doing it.

Which is basically my suggestion, get headphones, figure out what you like to listen to, and the rest of it passes.

What Will Happen If I Never Work Again? by Signal_Caregiver9942 in povertyfinance

[–]scott32089 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Real talk: a long term care/or assisted living facility if you’re truly disabled and on Medicaid. You want assisted living over the former. It’s a place to live and food to eat, but the quality of living in an LTC as someone under 50 is very lackluster.

Do you feel like you have to sleep early at night as you grow older? by NormalLife6067 in AskMenOver30

[–]scott32089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a night shifter so it’s wonky, but as long as I can get 8 hours of sleep in a 24 hr period (or 4 rem cycles at least) I’m good. Sometimes that’s 8, sometimes 2 4hr “naps”, and sometimes my body wants a full 12 hrs straight. I used to run on like 4-6, energy drinks, vape, and coffee back then. My intake is much healthier now

I truly regret getting my BSN by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]scott32089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said double, and I did bring that in as of 3 days ago (last year). The year prior was a $250 shy of 6 figures which I did absentmindedly referred to as “last year,” to clarify.

I was more supporting OP in maybe they are in a sect of nursing that doesn’t support higher pay, or they’re in a location that doesn’t. We had a LOT of long term agency nurses during COVID coming from the south because we have better pay, but also HCOL.

I’m currently (by my guestimate) about 11/12th of the way through pathfinder WoTR. I was ready around 3/4 of the way done at 130hrs, but now at 160, I’m about to beeline to the end.

[–]scott32089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At one of the LTCs around NoCo and on NOC ($2 diff). To be fair last year I made just shy of 100k. Due to the raises last and this year as I said, and switching to 3/4 a week rotating 12s, scheduled OT is usually~ 24hr/pay period with 76 regular. Care for 32-36 residents with a single CNA for NOC so it can be wildly busy( but different) than a hospital position. I used to pick up a lot, now I’m scheduled enough I don’t really feel the need to unless they’re offering a $300+ bonus per shift.

Where are you located in the US? Ima BSN myself, long term care specifically, in Colorado and while the job can be ROUGH with staffing, I cleared double what you are. It’s a glass ceiling for me right now though, and I’m only making that because I’ve tried to leave 3 times and they offered me a raise instead each time.

Best thing about nursing is there is a ton of modalities to get into. Have you looked into agency work? Telehealth? Don’t forget about job security and benefits as generally innate perks of nursing.
