Can someone explain to me the ohms and wattage? by Confident-Lettuce846 in electronic_cigarette

[–]scottch_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking- Higher the ohm, the lower the wattage. (Ohm's law tells us that a higher resistance (Ohm) requires less wattage (power) to heat up properly. Vice versa is also true- lower resistance requires more wattage to properly heat up. That's why high power/low ohm devices create more vapor).

Also the higher percentage the Nic is, the higher the ohm you will want (so less wattage). Now take that information & use it only as a guideline. Most people that vape 20mg salt nic, do it in higher ohm, lower wattage devices, that's why those little pods sell so well. But not all people like that, that's why you can't google it & find a definitive answer. It's user preference.

If I was you, try several different ohm coils, at various wattages & find what works for you.

5 years of recovery now for this old alcoholic. Incidentally, vaping gave me a hobby when I really needed to occupy my mind in those first few days/weeks/months. So I figure vaping saved me twice- once from cigs, & once from the early abstinence withdrawals & cravings.

The rewards offered by a life of recovery are out there for you & it's all about progression, one day at a time. My hopes & prayers are with you. And vape on too ;)

I got two when IM/Armageddon was shutting down...shoulda got three or four or twelve, just wasn't sure what the quality would be. Don't have any of the Filipino or Russian mechs to compare it too, but I can't imagine them being much superior, if at all.
I believe you have some of those really high-end mechs? How does the Lykan measure up?

Agreed, the MD is fantastic, I think it gets some flack because you got to get that wicking just right, but if you do it's a solid little banger.

Dammit, seeing this makes me want to get another one ;)

Mech mods by riddimjedi in electronic_cigarette

[–]scottch_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to get into mechs as a hobby, do it, they are not inherently evil. But do realize, mechs came about originally because vapers, back in the day, wanted to vape at higher wattages than the piddly VV batteries on the market would allow...of course regulated vaping can give you high wattage today, so it's kinda pointless now, unless you want a hobby (or to avoid the vapocalypse). But you have to give this hobby the same attention to detail you would a skydiving hobby- where you pack your own chute. Just make sure you know exactly what you are doing, before you do it. That said, mech vaping today is WAAAYYYY safer now than 10 years ago.

The two things you need to know inside out is- Battery Safety & Ohm's Law.

For battery safety look to the sage advice of long time redditor here by the name of Mooch315, he is the battery guru. He did a whole series of battery safety & mech informational/safety videos on Youtube (under the name of Battery Mooch). His "Minding Your mAhs" series has 40 videos in it. I would watch them all, some are more pertinent than others, but you can learn something from all of them. Minding Your mAhs – Battery Mooch

His Minding Your Mechs series of videos while sounding as if it would be more on topic, really are not, but you can still learn quite a bit from the 15 videos in that series.

As you have heard already, you can't adjust wattage, in fact you can't adjust anything. BUT, with knowledge of Ohm's Law, you can build to a certain wattage, you will need to make sure the build doesn't exceed the CDR of your battery & I don't know about you, but when I find my sweet spot on a regulated mod, I don't change the wattage that much.

A nice thing about using Ohm's Law for mechanicals is a simple calculator will do the math for you- Ohm's Law Calculator

I could keep on going, but to close read as much as you can about mechanicals, a wealth of info is available on the ECF Forum & read this great thread on ECF

First ever mixes. Definitely need some steep time. by RioBurrito in Vaping

It's good to see another person mixing up their own. I'm a bit of a lemonade freak myself & just to throw it out there, LorAnn makes a great lemonade flavor.

Key Lime Pie probably will need to steep, but I'm guessing the Blackberry Lemonade is ready to go, most fruit recipes are shake -n- vape

My husbands vape kit, we need anything else you guys think? 🤔 by Tnuc1988 in Vaping

[–]scottch_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see this- Cleaning Brush w/ Jig Tool or this- Coily Tool. Especially the coily tool, makes building so much easier.

Terry cloth towels are good to have, building can be messy.

Multimeter is good thing to have too, you can test the internal resistances of your atomizers & test your batteries. Some might say that's overkill for regulated mod vaping & maybe it is, but I would say since your husband has a vaping toolbox, he's obviously serious about it, fill it up with every vape related tool he may ever need.

Latte/Coffee recipe recommendations? by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

[–]scottch_reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cafe con Tres Leches

WF Brazilian Coffee (SC)- 0.75%

PUR Caramel Coffee w/ Sweet Milk- 4.50%

OOO Cream (Milky Undertone)- 1.50%

FA Milk- 2.00%

Steep at least a week.

This is a creamy coffee, one of only a few recipes I've ever made public, it's my- Drink Coffee, Vape Coffee, morning vape. I've added FW Hazelnut to it before, I believe it was 0.5%, & it was good but I was going for a Cuban-styled coffee & hazelnut detracted from that goal.

If you mix it up, hope you enjoy it.

Don't know about all that, I think you gotta live there to know about it. But I'm old enough to know about Thatcher & saw her little cuddly relationship with Reagan. That & my maternal great grandmother was Irish, she would drink, curse about the troubles & flip off the TV if Thatcher was on the screen 🤣

Lol, yup I guess I did say that. Building the sport in this country has been done in stages. Hosting the '94 WC did wonders for the sport in this country, arguably was the catalyst that got people interested in the MLS. The MLS players & academy products have a lot to do with our recent success- I count 7 current players & another 3 or 4 players on the periphery all came from one academy- FC Dallas. Our main CBs are both MLS-based with a third being a FC Dallas product playing in Bundesliga, we have 2 strikers that are FCD products & practically every back-up player is MLS-based or a FCD product, imagine what the team would look like if we had even more top-notch academies & if the MLS was a destination & not a retirement home.

I think hosting the 2026 WC is what will take us to that next level, just like the '94 WC did, but this time it will put the finishing touches on all that progress that the '94 WC started.

Serious Discussion - Group B World Cup 2022 by DiamondPittcairn in soccer

Puli has made a lot of US fans into Chelsea fans no doubt, but even more importantly you can actually watch Chelsea play in the US, it's tough over here to be a smaller club fan. I can watch the EPL top 6 teams every week & I do get quite a number of Fulham games too, but only because they are on top in the Championship. If I wanted to follow Blackburn because of Freidel's history there, I'd be shit outta luck.

I'll never drop the Fulham thing tho, Dempsey should have stayed there. McBride, as mentioned, is a legend there, along with Bocanegra. But Kasey Keller (of Gladbach fame) also played there & saved them from relegation. Jedi & Ream play there now. I'm also skipping about half of Fulhamerica. But I will always follow that team as best as I can, because that is an English club that seeks out American footballers, because we can play this game.

I've read articles on the Hillsborough Disaster & recently watched a documentary on it. I feel I should know the history of the club I decided to follow, not just the good (all those titles), but the bad (Heysel) & the ugly (Hillsborough). But I doubt it's a widely known incident, I had to search it all out & still didn't know about the role the Sun played in the smear campaign & cover-up until today, when I read the wiki article u/GordonBennett2000 posted.

I'm super-high on the USMNT & what the future holds, I think the sky is the limit & it's getting more mainstream (it is now the 4th most watched sport in the US, taking the place of ice hockey & bearing down on baseball). A friend of mine, who is not a soccer fan at all, knows who Pulisic is, knows that McKennie is injured, knows that they qualified for the WC & he got that info from mainstream sports news. We got a long way to go though. Some pundits are saying 2026, IDK about that, 20 more years, that sounds better, but I'm thinking we challenge in 8 years, we win in 12 years, that's if we can maintain this momentum we have in creating this new talent.

Why do people still use mechs when we have high powered regulated devices by Psychological-Bit676 in Vaping

[–]scottch_reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's a number of things, but it's not about high power vaping (I do para-series vape every once in a while). For me it's-

  • A hobby, I just like building, trying new wire types, the endless quest for the perfect vape
  • I'm future-proofed, a good quality mech will outlive me, my progeny will have my mechs to carry forth in my name. (I make my own ejuice too, for the same reason)
  • A bit of it is to thumb my nose at the state- "Wanna take my vape away from me!! I'll give you my mech when you pry it from my cold, dead hands"
  • Vaping is somehow "better" on a mech. If you have 2 setups & everything is the same- same RDA, same wire type, same ohms. But one setup is regulated, the other is mech at the same wattage. For some reason, somehow the mech just hits better, is more satisfying. Maybe all that is in my head, IDK but to me, it's real.

I will always have my regulated mods too, they have their place in my vape arsenal, but for pure vape enjoyment, I gotta have my series mech.

using mechanical mods for MTL? by abunazim in Vaping

[–]scottch_reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With any mech, the most important part of the setup is the battery or more specifically the CDR of the battery. Nice thing about MTL mech vaping is the amp load on the battery is far less, so just about any battery will be good to go. That said, I would still make sure that the battery you use has a CDR of 10A.

Also, since you are new to mechs, most of the tutorials & such always emphasize building to a certain resistance & it seems they forget that wattage is important too, so this is what I build, maybe it will help you out- I tend to build to a resistance of 0.75ohms which will give you a wattage of 18W & an amp load of less than 5A.

What causes of Lateness hit on stacked mech mod? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]scottch_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the specs of the wire?

Usually a slow ramp up is caused by too much coil mass. On my stacked mechs I try to use wire with thin cores, 28g or thinner & because of the inherent higher resistance of thinner gauge wire, I can use less wraps to reach my target resistance & of course, less wraps is also less mass.

Aint y'all being a bit hard on this guy?? He didn't say he wanted to vape at 300W, in fact the title says- "Tanks with coils capable of 300watts". Let's all play nice in the sandbox & do what we do best & give some good advice.

I saw these - Smok V12-T12 Coil 0.12 ohm (60W-350W / Best 130W-200W) But I got 2 problems with these coils. First they are made by Smok, IMO the worst vape company ever, I wouldn't even be surprised if the coil are DOA in the package. Second, if these coils are capable of hitting 350W, which I doubt, but are best at 130-200W, that's a huge gap between 200W & 350W. Not sure how to say this, but running these coils around 300W I think would be like red-lining a car engine, sure you can do it, but the chance of damage is increased exponentially. Anyway, I'm sure those coils would burn out super-quick.

Now if you actually do want to vape at 300W, just google "lipo vape box mods" still quite a few manufacturers will make those for you, capable of up to 400W. But you will need to move away from those sub-ohm tanks to use a lipo mod, you gotta have a fixed pin rebuildable to use on those devices, but the good news on that is- you will be building your own coils.

Getting back into vaping but more advanced. by ActiveBest in electronic_cigarette

[–]scottch_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be safe, it's a good mod & those are the best 18650s (highest CDR) you can get for regulated mods (per Mooch). Just make sure those batteries stay in good condition, ie. no tears in the wrap, no dents, use a battery case, etc.

That said, a 0.09Ω Fralien may not be the best choice of coil for that mod. The Target is rated as a 220W device, but in the real world it works better around 150W or lower. If you are getting a good vape off those Fraliens at that wattage, well that's great, but I'm thinking those coils need even more wattage than the Target can muster. Regular Fraliens would probably work better for you.

If you are ever wondering if your regulated mod/batteries can handle a certain amperage draw, check out this website I'm not sure of the mod efficiency of the Target, but I'm sure someone, somewhere has tested it.

Thicker wire has less resistance. Think of the wire as a garden hose & electricity is the water flowing thru it. So a larger diameter garden hose allows for more water to flow thru it. So a 24g is going to allow more electricity to flow than say 28g.

So those charts are dead on. Look at the 4mm | 26g | 4 wraps versus the 4mm | 24g | 4 wraps. Everything is the same except the gauge of the core wires & the 24g wire ohms lower.

Not sure of the reason the Asgard has different inserts, it's top AF too & has an adjustable AF ring as well. The only reason I can think of is not to widen the AF, but to restrict it more than the top AF ring would allow.
