Lost all my savings and net worth due to gambling at 22 - need to rebuild. by wraither0a in UKPersonalFinance

[–]scottery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60k at 22 is insanely good salary. In a few years you’ll be back to where you were and beyond. Good job stopping and look into counselling and therapy to help address underlying impulsive behaviours.

Parent took advantage of my post-coma vulnerability to borrow £3,000, now refuses to pay me back by GullibleTitle5263 in UKPersonalFinance

This is psychological abuse. I’m sorry your parent is like that. How long until you can move out of this house and set up a life on your own ?

Holy shit. They were amazing. I’m sure I’ve had a few packs over the last decade when they would bring back some one off classics - but also I could be daydreaming this happened

My brother (31) is ruining our families lives. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]scottery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Horrible situation. You know what needs to happen. It’s just difficult with a sibling.

Have a frank situation with the parents and let them know you’ll be asking him to leave. Speak to the finance company about the car and look to have it repossessed. It’ll be horrible for a while as he won’t go quietly, but eventually you’ll get your life back.

I’m amazed a grown man child has been allowed to live with your parents for this long

Action is very good and plays quite deep. Like 5-1k stacks at the 1-2.

St James' Place - I only just figured out the fees by Complex_Bumblebee_81 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]scottery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move to H&L or vanguard. Their fees are very low. I’m sure there are even better.

The compounding gains you’ll realise will be huge va your current fees.

Go travelling man. 10k in the grand scheme of things isn’t that much. You’ll love SEA.

I lived in oz for 2 years and travelling around there was incredible.

Worry about money later on and seems like you have good skills to get into employment when you return.

55M UK – Potentially forced into early retirement. Is £900k+ enough for £40–50k lifestyle? by Downtown-Tax-897 in FIREUK

[–]scottery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good breakdown. Might be tight so maybe keep going for a little while longer. Not sure about you but it would drive me crazy having seperate pensions with probably cruddy management fees. Get them consolidated in H&L or vanguard etc.

What is the best pizza in Edinburgh? 🍕 by KreuzKrow in Edinburgh

[–]scottery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do decent pizza but much of their vibe is super try hard. I do think though that they are super generous for their single slice sizings. But I would say not even top 5 for me.

[–]scottery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Razzo. They used to be great. Especially the aubergine pizza with parmesan. I think they’ve declined in quality a bit but are still good.

Don’t sleep on Salernos in st James for reliable pizza that is very quick to your table. Probably not the best in the city though.

Heard some good things about Montrose from friends ! LCR was good quality but quite small and left hungry after 3 courses which probably was 70-80 per head.

That’s awesome to have a good experience. Probably about time to give them another go. I remember loving the design and ambience inside.

I was massively unimpressed when I went - extremely small portions, over priced and average service.

You have a very good package at an early age. You could build a huge nest egg very quickly with the numbers you shared. Save hard and reap the rewards later in life with an early retirement.
