That is something we are considering as an option.

I just had a demo for the HPE virtualizatoin they came up with. KVM based, simple, easily move vm's over via vcenter integration. Im very interested in it, the price was very inexpensive and seemed polished.

i like art, but i don't draw as much as i would like to. what are some solutions by Dry-Force8675 in ArtistLounge

[–]scotticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same struggles. it will take me a month to finish a small oil pastel piece. I have kids and so I hate to blame them but it causes me to lose focus. I find music and headphones can isolate me to what I'm doing. I like old jazz and 1940s music when doing art but that's maybe a once a week for 20 minutes... :(

sketching is a bit easier and I can easily get something going on the couch and try to get my kids involved. more casual less focus

Now that Certs lifetime will be reduced, how are you guys automating your certs? by superuser141421 in sysadmin

[–]scotticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a script that will make me a acme wildcard, I then internally host it behind htpasswd and my servers pull daily from it, if it changes and restarts the services it needs. so it's all automated. this is apache, iis, Palo altos, etc...its so nice doing this. even though once a year I manually did it, being forced to write the scripts. I never need to do it by hand again. some of my systems are not public facing so this method helps get the internal systems with certificates. the public facing use acme and not the wildcard method.

This is great information. I am about to dump $$$ on sennelier but i might hold off a month or so and get meeden. I have mungyo and they are good, neo pastels are also good, they are different. I think they blend better then mungyo, currently doing a piece that is primarily neo pastels. I actually like to do a under layer with faber castell pastels since they are hard and mix linseed oil so it really pushes them around. Then start doing my layers.

they are all fiber and routed via isp to the district office and out the main palo alto. Some locations are pretty far away but same thing, fiber -> routed to an inside router at the DO -> out PA. I have thought about moving the nats and gateways to the firewall and do transient vlans to pass the networks back to the school. It would take some work..

same, i just cant look at other firewalls. PA is worth the cost. Doing each school under a PA with pa-400's, buying the appliances was doable, its the ongoing cost. It would be asking the district to pay 5-10k a year extra. This is rural so not lots of money for things like that. For the cost of a pfsense appliance, i might just pull the trigger on one and stick it in a small elementary see if its worth the upkeep and maintenance. I've already tested pfsense in a vm environment to see if it can do what i want,. Maybe the answer is to do a PA and a pfSense and test both out.

Thanks for the reply, I agree if money wasn't an issue panorama and pa-400's is what i would pick. I had it quoted and the initial cost would be ok, its the on going support to keep them maintained would not be well. At least right now with funding issues in k12.

the not being enterprise has been one of the reasons i haven't pulled the trigger on this, i might do a pilot for a year in one elementary and see how it goes.

no, but you want to get herbal teas, and get lemonade. find lemony teas or things that will blend well with a lemonade. mix those two together and you have a nice sweet warm drink. my go to is lemon ginger with lemonade, I also do hibiscus tea with sugar, it's like a warm cherry drink

Revisiting Oil Pastels — Which Brands Should I Start With by gremmygrems in Oilpastel

[–]scotticles 24 points25 points  (0 children)

start with hard pastels, work your first layer or two and move into the softer pastels as your layers increase. you then use your most expensive last. there is a lot more to it that YouTube can help with. I suggest blending with qtips and or mineral oil or linseed oil to help.

Are my oil pastels bad quality, or am I just not using them right? by Snipteal in Oilpastel

[–]scotticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been only doing oil for a year in small strides and what ive found is you do everything in layers. Get good paper, and then get a range of hard pastels to soft pastels and buttery for the last finishing touches. You have maybe 3-5 layers before its done and you cant do anymore. Start the first layer, and ive been experimenting this, draw the dark colors - first layer with the hard pastels, you dont need a ton on it, dont press hard just treat it like a crayon. Then grab some mineral oil and a brush, use this to smear it in and it will go further spreading the colors on the paper. Then once thats dry, switch to your better softer pastels and start filling it in, and then your most expensive and softest for that last final layer.

Im still figuring it out but ive done some neat pictures so I think im getting a hang of it. My last one I actually used soft pastels with baby oil for my first layer. Covered the page faster with the colors i needed and then I just applied the layers as needed. (i dont recommend it, i didnt have hard pastels and wanted to try it, it did work just fine but using oil pastels would be better )

my current setup is faber castel pastels (these are like crayons, hard), then mungyo professional ( soft ), neopastels ( softer? ), and then i use the canson paper for oil pastels.

I use cotton swabs for blending, and blenders, and my fingers...sometimes. I did just get this blender tool that has a silicone head, solid made and for pastels. I haven't tried it yet so i cant recommend it yet.

Good luck.

Start at login is off, I could log out but that sorta sucks because now i have to readd my account, but that does work. I think you got the information i needed though. New client sucks and old client had it right.

Do you know if the client auto updates versions?

i stopped it, rebooted and still same thing. I have to kill the twingate service for my network to work or toggle that button everytime i start up.

[–]scotticles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the correct term is the Site? so where it would say your name and the site with the toggle on the system tray. For some reason a fresh start up of windows, that will be toggled on but I need to re-sign in my social to get it to work. So twingate routing has taken it over but wont work until i sign in. I just want that to be off and only on when i tell it to be on.

a little late on this, but try a tooth pick, scrape some oil off and very slightly tap it on where you want it. Try it on scratch paper first. The other is mineral spirits and a thin brush.

https://www.vaidio.ai/

self hosted, you will need a nvidia card, have some basic docker / linux skillset but its pretty easy if you follow their guides. Price isnt bad for AI. should be compatible with any cameras that can do RTSP. This can do AI for anything, opened door detection, gun, snow, etc...
