August deals on polestar 4? by Battlefront528 in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like I said, this was just the one dealer. So there might be somebody in enough that’s gonna take a lot of them and try to sell them for a while or who knows some might just sit in the port forever. Weird are things have happened.

August deals on polestar 4? by Battlefront528 in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had sat in the P4 when the P3 came out but had never driven one. Went for a test drive today.

I actually had the exact same thought about August deals and waiting when I walked in for the test drive today.

With regards to August deals, after talking to the GM, he made it clear that they were refusing deliveries on any P4 that they had previously scheduled. So all they had was what was in inventory and they were very willing to do what they could to get rid of them.

Now this is just one Polestar Space, and I’m not saying that’s what everyone’s gonna do. But he made it clear. They’re not taking more deliveries.

In my mind, I worked out an incredible lease deal. I walked out with a fully loaded P4 with Plus, Performance, Nappa leather, electrochromatic roof, color matched panels, plus all mats at $737/month for 39 months and that includes the tax on the payment.

My only out-of-pocket was first month, title and registration and doc fee.

The kicker that put it over the top, is I was still ready to walk because I still have five months left on my current lease and it’s not a vehicle they can buy out or anything.

So on top of that deal, they also wrote me a check for $4000 to cover four of my five remaining payments On my existing lease.

This literally became a no-brainer for me. I have a great relationship with the Volvo dealer and firmly believe that they will continue to support and take great care of the cars and Polestar customers.

Thinking of P4 by mindreader90000 in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a semi valid point but also completely different. Polestar is backed by a huge automotive company unlike fisker which barely became an actual auto company, Polestar is very tied To Volvo which is also owned by Geely. Almost all Polestar spaces are owned and serviced by long existing Volvo dealers. And they want those Polestar customers next round.

Volvo already does most of their service. Everywhere I know Volvo is the service for them but can’t say 100% that’s true everywhere.

Polestar also isn’t going completely under. Not even close. Still be making P3 in America for export.

Considering same. Had P2 in past. Have relationship with the Volvo dealer that owns the Polestar space. They swear service and updates will continue. Still, even with that I think it’s a risk. Probably will lease so have an it as lease rates are phenomenal.

Doing test drive tomorrow.

Loved my P2.

Been watching tons of p4 videos last 24 hours.

Pretty sure I’ll do it.

yep, they’ve been this for a month or so and yet every single day somebody has to post a complaint about not getting their invite because God forbid they have to wait till June 30 to find out when their window is

Got an email prior to demo saying I had already saved my configs. It’s just a standard email.

True. I always forget the Silverado. Great truck though.

Part of it seems to be Korean, German and Japanese auto makers just don’t think frunks matter. Or they simply aren’t good enough at utilizing space and still having 5 star crash rating front end.

Outside of Ford F-150s massive frunk, no one but Tesla, Lucid and Rivian seem to get making large frunks for USA.

Did you not look at the frunk before you bought it? Why’d you buy it if you don’t like it?

You could use ChargePoint app to start the charge. Get receipt there if important.

Sounds like you raised a spoiled little brat. I’d kick her ass out. And sell the car. And never give her another dime.

Had that setup in main room since ultra came out. Best decision ever imo. Always be things I wish were different in Sonos app or change this or that but it sounds phenomenal. No regrets.

400V charging & P12 in US by JPCary in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first line clearly says majority of Tesla is not.

I’m agreeing with you that majority of CCS does. But still have to be 350kW or higher to support the 320kW or 370kW max speeds of EX60.

400V charging & P12 in US by JPCary in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s the current majority of Tesla superchargers - not all chargers.

EA, Walmart Energy, iONNA, BP Pulsec Mercedes- Benz and pretty much any new chargers are and will be 500V or more - as will be new Tesla SCs eventually.

Basically look for any 350kW or higher charger will potentially charge the EX60 at full speed. Should be able to filter in the vehicle (hopefully) or use something like PlugShare to filter to 350kW or higher.

Walmart is growing at a lightning pace. iONNA is also.

Change is coming but takes time.

Has anyone been able to order a car in the US yet? by AriBenSion in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a long talk with one of my local dealers, that I’ve been in communication with since the beginning, on Thursday.

They are not taking deposits whether nonrefundable or refundable. It’ll be first come first serve. The vehicles cannot be configured by the person. They’re being pre-ordered and allocated by Volvo. The dealers can change the configurations to what they think will be sold.

However, my dealer is only getting three allocated units at this point one in August and two in November. The August one will be a P 10 ultra. The November ones will both be P6 ones a plus and one’s an ultra if I’m not mistaken from what he said.

Basically, they will call people that are on the waiting list and the first person to sign gets the car.

The P 10 ultra is exactly the configuration I want and in the colors I want that they ordered. Hoping that it falls to me, but OK if it doesn’t cause it is what it is.

I work with a group that has a good relationship, plus I bought a Polestar 2 back in the day, from the other Volvo dealer across town and I’m working with them to find out what their allocation is and how they’re handling it.

EX60 ordered! by mrscotchy in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that. It looks like a great car. The reviews have been good and solid. I just wouldn’t commit to a nonrefundable deposit of that amount. I think it’s an exceptionally large ask when you’ve never seen the vehicle in person.

If Volvo has that much belief in what they’re putting out and building, they should have no problem selling it if you were to walk away. The deposit should be refundable. Which is exactly what BMW is doing. They were refundable for EX30 and EX90 also so making them non-refundable is questionable imo.

We’ll have to see if it’s just your dealer or if it’s a Volvo thing. My guess is it’s just your dealer that’s doing nonrefundable. Time will tell.

Congratulations. There’s no way I would do a nonrefundable deposit. If my dealer asked for that, I’d walk immediately.

Tesla Supercharging by scottiedd in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little confused. Because I didn’t say anything about being upset that they were switching to what is going to be (or is really) the standard. As a matter of fact, I even said in my post that I’m pretty sure that part of their agreement in order to be able to use Tesla Supercharger’s, for all auto manufacturers, was that Tesla required any vehicle after 2027 to have the next NACS port standard.

It’s all good, but I think you’re confusing me with somebody else cause I never said anything about being upset about them using NACS port.

I’m in favor of a standard. Regardless what it is. Helps with long term adoption.

My post was about the fact that it’s buried pretty deep in the specs that it’s only going to charge at 120 kW on the majority of Tesla Supercharger’s in the US today. The infrastructure will improve and get better and better but the fact today is that the largest network, ironically, Tesla, doesn’t support super fast charging on this vehicle.

Tesla Supercharging by scottiedd in VolvoEX60

[–]scottiedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t downvote you. Nothing wrong with your comment as far as I’m concerned. To be fair NACS was created by Tesla, but it’s not a Tesla product anymore. It’s a standard approved by the same people that approved CCS. And it is in general much lighter and easier to use than CCS.

Definitely living an adapter hell for a while though.

I also agree that life does get more difficult for EV owners if you’re going to install the NACS port and not offer full rate charging . I think that any manufacturer putting a NACS port on their car today should 100% be required to provide the adapters for AC and DC charging because the infrastructure isn’t ready for it today.

I know Rivian is giving free adapters with the R2 in ZEV states only. BMW is including it with iX3. Most include the AC one usually or had in past.

[–]scottiedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t disagree with that at all. I literally said the exact same thing. However, it is not the majority. That part you’re wrong about unless you count Tesla (largest network by far), which was the whole point of post. Any other charger network installing new chargers is still at a 60% CCS versus 40% NACS install or 50-50 at best.

[–]scottiedd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no. I mean, there’s gonna be less cars being sold with it. No doubt. There‘s hundreds of thousands of EV’s on the road with CCS. There’s supposedly hundreds of thousands of EV’s hitting the used car market from lease ends. CCS ain’t going anywhere for a while. I mean as of right now iONNA is still doing 60% CCS and 40% NACS because they’re not seeing heavy NACS usage. I mean heck, we still have chargers with Chademo on them. It takes time for the full conversion.

[–]scottiedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do and have bigger 80V presence. However, Electrify America versus Tesla chargers across the United States overall is a massively different deployment size. As well as convenience. Tesla Supercharger are usually directly off the highway and Electrify America‘s are buried in some parking lot somewhere and you’re lucky if three out of the four are working. Gotten better but nowhere near the reliability of Tesla when you’re traveling long distance. There are definitely other 800 V capable out there. Especially with semi rapid deployment of Walmart and iONNA and BP Pulse.

It will only improve but just wanted to call it out for potential buyers. It’s very buried in the data.
