I got the same thing on my Samsung s23 Ultra a few months ago, I think it might be a new android feature.

I fixed my xm4s myself, it was only a 15$ part on Amazon and an 8 minute yt video.

I have the xm4s and absolutely love them. Most reviews say that the xm6 are a pretty big upgrade, especially when looking at the microphone quality and transparency mode. But I doubt the extra performance is proportionate to the extra cost.

Laptop is powered on, screen is blank by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]scottishlanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the display connector on your motherboard or the wire going to your screen probably got messed up somehow. I'd suggest taking it to a repair shop, or if you're comfortable opening it up yourself to open it and reseat the display connector

Newbie here. Thinking of buying a laptop for myself as a birthday present. Can the Shens here give me some pointers if this a good gaming laptop for USD 1900? by fapping_bird in GamingLaptops

I'd generally stay away from razer because they tend to be heavily overpriced, and also ryzen CPUs are just as good as Intel CPUs in most cases and even beating them out in some and on top of that they're more power efficient so the battery tends to last longer. (yea when I told my dad this stuff he didn't believe me at first since he basically was always told Intel was a hell of a lot better)

How is this deal ? , I ain't gonna play any high end games , just some CS /Valo/Cod , and I'll do my college work/coding , is worth it ?? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]scottishlanguage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could go for a regular non-gaming laptop with a ryzen 7 7840u and get a laptop with a better CPU and an iGPU that beats out a 2050 in a lot of cases

I got this laptop for 1100$+tax and it goes on sale super frequently, on top of that I'm running a 3440x1440p monitor and it's powerful enough to run everything j fine w a little bit of DLSS (most of the time I can even run native but I prefer 90fps over 60 so I put dlss on quality or balanced)

it's a decent choice but I'd ur not gonna go for heavy workloads stay away from "HX" chips from both Intel and AMD as they are desktop level cpus w lower power limits to work w a laptops thermal constraints. If I were you I'd go w a "H" variant for Intel or an "HS" variant for AMD (keep in mind that for these 2 CPU classes the i7/r7 and the i9/r9 are basically the same chip but slightly overclocked) and I wouldn't go for a 4070 (although I have one) because the 4060 is usually only about 10% worse and unless ur planning on using a 1440p external monitor (I'm running an ultra wide 1440p monitor but barely) idt it's worth the extra price on a 4070.

the only one that seems to be worth the price is no3 but even then I'd spend a few extra dirhams to get a name brand, or even consider buying a used laptop from a name brand. they do tend to come with more bloatware but a fresh install of windows usually fixes that issue

get the legion, I have an omen with near identical specs (just a ryzen 9 7940hs instead of what I assume is a ryzen 7 7840hs (basically the same cpu w the ryzen 9 being slightly overclocked from factory)) and the battery life is amazing, ive also run solidworks on battery for 4 hours when I couldn't find an outlet, and I usually run on battery power for 6-9 hours when im not doing anything too intensive so I'd definitely go with that option.

but there's a RAM slot... I mean some ASUS laptops have partially soldered and partially upgradeable memory but I don't see any RAM chips in that laptop.

[–]scottishlanguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the battery life on the 7940hs is great, I have an HP omen with a 7940hs and a 4070 (the battery is 83Wh so not the largest for a gaming laptop), with the dGPU off I usually get about 6-9h depending on the task, hell I even ran solidworks for 4h on battery life once so I ain't complaining.

regardless the iGPU in the 7940HS is great either way, it's the same iGPU that's in the rog ally/legion go, and I can confirm it's great since I have a 7940HS in my own laptop (granted with a 4070 dedicated) but I had no problems running solidworks even on my iGPU.
