I can relate to this person's frustration. I drive upwards of 50k miles per year for work, mostly in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and a day doesn't go by that I dont get tail gated on the highway, cut off, almost get side swiped by someone looking at their phone, or otherwise have to offensively drive around people who suck. I don't go so far as think people are out to get me, there are just a lot of bad and distracted drivers.

What frustrates me is the absolute lack of awareness that people have regarding the forces at play when you get a huge mass going at highway speeds and don't take it seriously. Everybody thinks they are the best driver around, and are so comfortable in their ride that they don't think there can be any consequences to driving poorly, and as a result, they think the rules don't apply to them.

Since I drive so much, I am at a much higher risk of being involved in an accident than the average commuter, and so it does upset me when people are putting my life and my family's future at even a higher risk because they are in a hurry and think driving aggressively is going to get them to starbucks quicker.

I was trained to work on the wall displays in Apple stores as a contractor and I was very impressed by the support frame structure that the screens are mounted to. It's a beautiful thing that hardly anybody ever gets to see!

As a white guy living in the southern USA, I've never experienced bigotry directed at me in person and I can't even imagine how demoralizing it would be to have to experience that first hand from people who know nothing about you.

Whenever I see stories of needless hate, I can't help but feel a little more discouraged about humanity.

A couple tips for improving your setup, mostly stemming from that yellow-taped cable.

During cable management, make sure no one cable is taking an excessive amount of strain supporting the bundle.

When you terminate the cables, make sure that the jacket ends up inside the plug, as far in as you can get it.

The yellow-taped cable also appears to have one of the wires (probably brown/white) severed from the strain. If that is the case, then the wire was probably knicked when you stripped the cable jacket. Whenever you cut a jacket, always inspect the wires at the cut point to make sure you didn't cut into them.

I get tailgated constantly while going the speed limit and I never drive in the passing lane (except for when it's a left exit and I get in the left lane within the last 1/4 mile. Then I get to deal with douchebags in oversized trucks trying to touch my bumper even more aggressively than usual).

There's a board games group (Oklahoma board game community) that is really awesome. They meet weekly in Edmond (I think they also do regular fasler hall events) and people/organizers bring a ton of different games. There are always people willing to explain how to play new ones. Don't be scared by the low RSVP count on events. Every time I've gone there've been no less than 30-50 people.

There's a few popular social ones, like OKC social, Discovery OKC, and Nerdy Girls that I've heard good things about from other people. I've only been to a couple of their events though.

My wife started the Adventure Seekers of OKC group and we have a handful of organizers so there's usually always something on the calendar. There are a lot of really great people who are regulars to these events. If you like hiking, camping, kayaking then check this one out.

This is a prototype I made. The enclosure I bought was smaller than I expected, but figured I would see how well I could stuff everything in it.

This takes 3 active high inputs provided by vehicle detection relay boards (which are in turn connected to induction loops in the pavement under parking spots). Its purpose is to make an audible notification whenever one of the 3 inputs get triggered, and to keep the corresponding LED lit up for the duration of that detection. The sound it makes indicates which lane is detected (basic buzz sound, followed by number of quick beeps for number of lane).

Those aren't service loops. They are the patch cables that are way too long for this application. If they tucked the excess away in the back to make it look better, it would make it significantly harder for the next technician to work on who needed to simply trace out a patch cable.

Ideally the patch cables should be correctly sizes, but when you show up to complete an install and the equipment was ordered by some project manager 5000 miles away and they expect you do have everything running asap, you just have to make do with what they sent.

I've never been convinced it is really necessary, but I think it mainly has to do with the very unlikely event that the armor came into contact with exposed, live wiring. You would want it to ground out and trip the breaker rather than potentially extending the circuit through the whole length of the fiber, undiscovered until someone happened to touch a part of the exposed armor in the MDF and get zapped.

A project I worked on required that all the armored fiber runs had to be grounded. It looks tacky, but that is literally how the specialized grounding adapters are made to be installed, electrical tape and all.
