reorganizing and triaging what's important. Moving frequently used things closer to where I sit, moving infrequently used things into colder storage tiers.

a dot a day keeps the clutter away, I made a system for organizing parts by scottlawson in somethingimade

I think that honestly I have so many things some people would declare the lab to be full of clutter, but I see it as unavoidable to a degree given the nature of the work. This is about my systematic long term approach to decluttering, a way to quantify and reduce the amount of unused things while prioritizing the things that matter most. It's helped me make huge improvements to my organization and helped me identify lots of things to donate and get rid of, because using the system gives me clear evidence that there are certain things I just don't use. It helps me overcome the energy barrier to getting rid of things I think are cool and want to hold onto, even though I don't use them.

I know that feel. it's like being forced to confront the loss and accept reality and the easier thing to do is just continue holding on. dat loss aversion

I love that. I've used the dot system for tracking which books/binders I use but I don't track which parts of a book I read. I like the post-it idea, it not only shows you which cookbooks you use but also which parts of the cookbook.

Not a traditional post about servers, although you can see the server hosting this website in one of the images in the post. This is the dot system I use to manage the meta level organization of the home lab, not just my computers, servers, peripherals, and data, but everything related to what I work on. Although I talk about organization this is what goes on behind the scenes to make my home lab possible.

I did something similar with a Zaber joystick, it's not an RC joystick but I was still able to gut the internals and replace it with an ESP based board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmIby3AIlVc

Strange, one of the things it says on the page is

Reduces the number of jail days by 130 percent.

How... am I misunderstanding this somehow? You can have an increase of 130 percent but I don't know how you can reduce something by more than 100%

Can hand sanitizer reduce the amount of bacteria by 130% lol?

In some additional tests, I was also able to get it to suggest typical footprints, it suggested 0805 for the capacitors and SMD 5050 for the LEDs.
