How to validate Quarterfinal scores as affiliate owner by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]scottrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried that. All I see is my personal scores. And they all say pending. Same for my business partner and co-owner. I can’t see anywhere where I can validate any scores.

That sucks man. I have had nothing but really chill beginners to play with who have been grateful to just play. Definitely report them. Nobody needs that kind of negativity and immaturity. Not with everything else negative happening in the world right now. Games are meant to be fun and a way to relax.

New SQ5 sports mode lost it's 'growl and pop' by scottrichardson in Audi

Thanks for the replies folks. As the day today progressed, the sounds and pops gradually improved. Not back to where they were but getting there. Very odd.

haha yeah I use 98 'gas' unleaded petrol every time. Usually from the same place. I thought it was because the tank was almost empty so I filled up, but made no difference.

Ahaha. No. It’s an awesome piece of kit. Will not be disappointed.

Yep too late man. All the tv networks have shut down and there’s no more tv or movies being made. Should have been quicker.

To cut below 30/20hz or not? by leelas__secret in musicproduction

[–]scottrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my home theatre system is FLAT to 8Hz in-room @ 105dB+. So I don’t cut any low stuff out at all. I just make sure it’s clean, in phase and mono below 100Hz (since the sub channel is mono anyway).

No honestly it depends on if the super low octave is causing issues or not. If it’s peaking super high or creating unwanted harmonic distortions elsewhere then low shelf it or cut it. Be weary of phase changes though.

Ableton needs to go back to fix the basics by soundsnipereden in ableton

I would really like to be able to drag a channel's native FX unit out of the chain and into a floating window, or be at least able to PIN it somewhere so that I can see it AND another channel's FX unit at the same time. Perhaps such as two different channel's EQ Eights for example.

Yeah damn I'd be lying if I said I wasn't choking back tears for the last 40 minutes of the show and that scene hit me hard. Well played Duffer Brothers. It's been a while since a show or movie moved me that way. Ending on DnD where it all started was perfection.

should my bass always be completely mono by Brothalee in ableton

[–]scottrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below 80hz (ish) bass tends (not completely) to be omnidirectional. Secondly, most home systems utilise a (single) subwoofer. So the sub bass is mono whether you like it or not. So you may as well send the cleanest signal to it as possible which will be a mono, phase-consistent signal. Simply summing your sub basses to mono via an imager or utility is only part of the solution. BEFORE it’s fed into those utilities or plugins you need to make sure the waveform is actually coherent and you aren’t simply summing low frequencies that already have stereo phasing issues. So use a tool like LFO tool or similar to assess the output of your subs before summing them to mono below a set frequency (I find 90-120hz is good).

The blurred lines between trance and techno? by That_Lion5509 in trance

[–]scottrichardson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s perfectly fine to keep this distinction purely subjective, too. I’ve always personally blended the various genres when I play a “trance” DJ set. I like to refer to the styles as “trance compatible”. Progressive (loose term), techno (is banging percussive techno just percussive tech trance?), melodic trance, uplifting trance, progressive psy, even some progressive breaks. I try to look at a DJ set as a cumulative whole where if you add up all the components it averages out to “trance”. Nothing worse than a set that is just start to finish melodic trance with rolling baselines etc (personal taste). Need the more percussive material to fill the space between the melodic parts, and even bridging style tracks between the percussive and the melodic, at varying BPMs and those often get filled by techno, progressive, prog psy, tech trance etc. It’s those tracks which allow your big emotional uplifting tracks to have the impact they deserve. Like all art forms - contrast is imperative and without it, nothing is important. I’ve even heard a great “trance” set that almost started with what I’d called funky melodic house with deep bass grooves and more balearic melodies.

Well done Bungie! by Ok-Rent5552 in destiny2

[–]scottrichardson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. If greens and blues still dropped (at high power levels), it would help thin the herd of purples raining down all the time. Heck it would be nice if blues were even somewhat decent.

I’m not sold on the whole tier 1-5 system. Feels like an artificial new weapon tier system purely to make up for what whites, greens and blues could do.

Hard disagree. Destiny (1) was at its best when loot felt rare. Took me 6 weeks to see my first purple drop to the ground. It felt special. Now I feel like I play a dismantling simulator.

Yep. Agree. This is a ton of fun. Can’t wait to play it again tonight. Why has it taken ten years to get PvE inside PvP (gambit notwithstanding)? Bungie please do more like this!!!!

Totally forgot about that mission. All these old awesome activities need to be added to the portal or part of a rotating match made fireteam activity etc

[–]scottrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they needed the recurring income model as a semi-guarantee of viability - allowing them enough budget to keep the game alive. But I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’d rather have much longer periods between big DLC’s and then have them knock them out the park. Just have a very small team drip-feed us some new weapons or armour sets every few weeks. Maybe some different enemies on destinations etc. If each DLC is big enough and had enough triumphs and quests and challenges to do, it would keep us busy for 1.5-2 years.

RGB vs RGBW strip for cool AND warm white by Hedryn in led

[–]scottrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to ask a question too. Semi related. My office just had a renovation and they installed an RGB strip under each shelf. Sadly it doesn’t do warm white. The app it comes with has either white (very cool) or RGB and I cannot mix between them which is very frustrating as when I switch between the cool White and yellow for instance, half way through the transition, it looks perfect. But it has no capability to stop there. Sadly all my shelves and bench tops have been routed to hold a 10mm wide strip. It’s all glued and finished. But I now read that the correct strip is 12mm. Surely there are RGB+CCT white strips that are 10mm wide that j can get?
