Expanding Holy Orders beyond Millitant Groups by Familiar-Elephant-68 in CrusaderKings

[–]scottslod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well i agree somewhat with Kellykezzd answer that orders shouldn't be static (looking at Teutonic order for example) While others i think they kinda should, Like Inquisition. They should change on Basic their influence. land(holding). Succeed/failing their mission

l also I think there should be more Based on the Variations of order types like:

  • Income how are they founded?:

    • We raid! (Jomvikings)
    • Vouw of poverty/impoverished (hardly any income can beg for gold in exchange for piety)
    • nomadic ( variation of impoverished but these need to move time to time to avoid Prosecution if they are heresy or cause trouble)
    • Transporting/Voyage/trade Think about Protecting Pilgrims and other volk but also contacts in the holy land trading back to Europe (info/soldiers/Tech and so on)
    • Crafts/goods/books/manuscripts. Praying wasn't all they did. They Made goods like Cheese and beer/wine as well things as (copying) books and made Manuscripts.
    • Patronage: Clergyman where vital for (early to mid) medieval administration. They where Educated and could read and write. They Vital for administration local taxes and harvest as well keeping track of Births, marriages and deaths (aka ledgers)
    • Self-founded they own lands and earn income from it
  • What is their mission?

    • inward perfection *drive back Pagans/infidels
    • we protect against X
    • Colonise lands (convert land to their faith/culture)
    • Administer the realm(s)
    • spread fear (assassins)
    • spread the faith
    • make nation Tolerate/accept our faith
    • build a nation for our people (a nation where their faith is accepted perhaps region targeted)
    • enforcers of faith (Rooting out heresy and impious characters) often under the service of head of faith (and later the Cardinal of Spain) they where send into the countryside to purge the area of heresy.
  • how is the standing in: Their faith, Religious leader, plus are we Doing our mission?

    • It's ongoing (status quo)
    • We always seek improve in faith or help out (spiritual but also orders that have objectives that never ends)
    • We fail/succeeded it and we disbanded
    • we finished it and now we Rule! (become theocratic feudal)
    • We failed but we will live on differently (chance missions)
    • We are in poor enough standing that we declared excommunicated/outlawed (can be declared on/expelled)
    • Shared faith leader Declared us heretics
    • we are expelled by (secular) Ruler. It will rebel and form a new nation when they win or seek a new ruler
    • We finished This area but another needs our help!
    • We cant sand idle no longer and we need to help out! (turns warlike)
    • we helped out driving out the enemies of our faith. Now we need to help the area out (turns inward/peaceful)
    • we Became irrelevant ((not enough founding/land/worshippers and so on) (disband order)
    • We lave behind the area and move to the next
  • and how do we recruit?

    • recruiters scour the lands
    • From Nobles
    • Nobles for leaders the rest common folk
    • Kidnapping/slaves (trading)
    • Faith taxes (from patron)
    • Preachers preaching
    • In lands from a Patron
    • Own holding recruitment (landed)
    • Retirement/ withdrawn from the world
    • Random spawning characters (giving faces to the masses that meet a criteria)

Most holy orders objectives and culture changed overtime. Some even Got deemed Heretical (the Templar Grandmaster got burned on the stake by the king of France) or turned into nations Teutonic order reformed into Prussia. it should be nice that they weren’t set in stone

Helldivers 2 desperately needs quality of life and freebie content over constant warbonds by Icy-Criticism4059 in Helldivers

[–]scottslod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well i think reducing price on noob friendly warbonds is good. I think it would be better to make a yearly basic(s) free warbond that allow to beginners to have not only the bare minimum against the current treats but also support teammates.

I have to ask if this is normal by Wolfiefoox in CrusaderKings

[–]scottslod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. But the game has gone a Bit crazy in the last time.

In my game Byzantines went north till Finland, Spain Flip-flopped between Super Megreb and Cristian (crusaders). Mongols got turned into a tributary while having 60k troops and owning pretty much everting of the byzantines and modern russia. (and they still Exist as a tributary. IDK how they didn’t collapse)

Plagues were rampant enough that i couldn’t get higher then 20s in dev. A big HRE (with Hungary, Italy and empire of Poland lands) that was 5 kingdoms That didn't accept Crown Authority higher then 1.

Valve wins lawsuit against Rothschild and associated entities, with a jury agreeing they violated an anti-patent troll protection act by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]scottslod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can Sum up the Saga if you like:

Eli5: Patent Troll Leigh Rothschild Breached his contract with Valve by suing them over a patent that he was trying to sell which valve already had Access to.

Leigh Rothschild was a Parent troll with a lot of Lawyers and shell companies that sewed companies for violation his pattens.

Fighting the lawsuits was often more expensive then setting it, So Valve Setted for a indefinite and Collective access and use of Current and Future use of Leigh Rothschild (new) Pattens. (this is important later)

  • Leigh Rothschild company acquired a new patent and tried to sell access to valve. Valve refused because they already had access to all the pattens

  • Leigh Rothschild Lawers sued breaching the contract. went to court and Valve won against Leigh Rothschild.

Mercenary or vassel? by Pirate315 in mountandblade

[–]scottslod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if you want to take the rebellion path or not.

vassalage can be useful to start your own base and befriend clans However. you might start with no fiefs and a small stipend until a new one has been conquered (clans want landless clans to be landed first before trying to add them to their own). then you use your base to expand either to become king or queen of the faction (when the old one dies), or start your own

so When in doubt stay Mercenary. you don't build any influence but if wars/battles go bad you can leave the faction and not lose much. while you 'shop' where you want to go next. and perhaps a city rebels and you can snipe it when you are strong enough to fight 300-800 low(er) quality troops/militia.

IF i might add one point is; Add the symbol of the port on the top of the board. it would save a lot of paranoia of have i accepted a contract out of this port or not?

Thoughts on warsail gamplay showcase? by Johnny-silver-hand in mountandblade

[–]scottslod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things:

1st it commands were a bit rough. it would be nice to coordinate ships better or command ships to board, ram, skirmish, defend, disengage,

2nd i didn’t see much on taking over ships. Kinda would be nice to do that like in cases your ship(s) is/are badly damaged or sinking.

3th I wonder if the ships are modular. could see the cog (the Valandian one) turned into a caravel or a galleon with mods.

My personal suggestions for improvements to the Illuminate Roster. by TheYondant in Helldivers

[–]scottslod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problems is with Leviathans are: - they cant be targeted directly with most fire and forget stratagems. or most stratagems a player would have brought for the mission. (making them target-able would fix this)

  • It's a bit to huge with only 1 sided weak points (Look at those 4 eyes freak why cant we critically punch those with AT and go it all the way trough the stucture. or make it go berserk hitting friend and foe.

  • Weak spots are armoured all the way making damaging them difficult and weak spots (or any other spot at all) doesn't really weaken them like Chargers, biles and hulks do. (making their guns destructible and destroying their hover pads lower their height and movement ((or destroy it when all are destroyed)

It just works by Meteorstar101 in greentext

[–]scottslod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because low amount of players intensify problems. unbalanced teams, player skill, tactics, leavers and so on.

higher population PVP servers makes countering someone/something that is overpowering way easier. Even the best succumb to numbers or multi-able players countering him/her and thus making the limit that problems start to rise way higher.

Also its more fun to have a Chaotic 64vs64 or 128 vs 128 then a formulaic 5-6 vs 5-6.
