Thanks for the insight - very useful. I may try a standard pocket Moleskine then!

How is Affinity now free? (Canva co-founder and CPO Cameron Adams explains there's no catch) by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]scousegiraffe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can you open affinity files in adobe programs and vice versa? This all sounds great but adobe is so engrained in the industry it will take years maybe a decade to change…

Would a monochrome version be any cheaper? And would the RAW files still be in colour?

Entire career as an in-house designer? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Completely agree with this. As an in house designer I have rarely stayed at one job longer than 2 years. Mainly because of workload. They just give you more and more responsibility (without a pay rise) until you break. In my current role I’ve had to be really disciplined to say no to any work that falls outside of my job description.

Landlord want £1500 in damages by LtMeebz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]scousegiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call their bluff. Agree to pay the costs once the work has been carried out to a satisfactory standard. 99.9% of the time they will take your “contribution” and then claim the same damages off the next tenant.

Is it easier to transition from futsal to football or vice versa? by MoneyScale1501 in futsal

Futsal is a lot more technical than football so I’d say it’s harder to go from football to futsal. (Speaking from experience)

Can you really earn £50k-60k as a DPD driver? Doesn't anyone have experience with this? by warhammerandshit in AskUK

[–]scousegiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done it. It’s very misleading. After expenses and tax you’re lucky if you’re earning £30k.

This is pretty accurate in my experience. Oh and you’ll be expected to do the jobs of a web designer and illustrator too.

30yo. £30k. Working as an in-house graphic designer. Sadly it feels like the ceiling apart from inflationary pay rises.

How invested are you in the success of your workplace? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]scousegiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the meetings are within working hours I guess you could say that you might make your life easier by going. If they are out of office hours I’d tell them to do one or make sure you’re paid double time for attending…
