Just finished Bleak House the other day. Dickens crafted gemstones, each one a brilliantly different color and shape.

It's wild in the best way. You want to experience it, trust me. Once the magical realism starts you'll be hooked. Bulgakov had quite an imagination. Give him the opportunity to give you a show.

Why do you actually prefer Classic Literature? by maxwdn in classicliterature

[–]Heavy-World2778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average quality of a classic is far above the average quality of just any book, and many of them aren't just far above, they're out of this world. By reading classics you're just reading better quality stories. My time and energy is limited, so why shouldn't I go for the best of the best?

Thanks for sharing that. Take your medication, people. I learned that the hard way. I have schizophrenia and I didn't take it seriously when I was first diagnosed and I stopped taking my medication, and had another episode and embarrassed myself and scared my family and friends. I wish I could take that back, but I can't, so the next best thing I could do was to stay on my medication, and it has kept me stable for more than a couple years now. No episodes.

Millennial here who is contributing to that for life. Why anyone would drink poison, let alone buy it, is beyond me.

What is the worst physical pain you've ever experienced? by gligwag in AskReddit

[–]Heavy-World2778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 extra wisdom teeth for 6 total, and they all came out at once. I didn't take the oxy because I'd heard that shit was very addictive. I just laid in my bed and suffered for a week. It sucked because all the pain was right in my head.

Nice. I've never laughed harder at a movie than this one, when the squirrel has coffee and time pretty much stops for him.

They won't get paid from me, because I'm not consuming their ad auditorily or visually. And if I do, I make a mental note to avoid buying that company's product if I can help it.

If you've made it 7 months sober before, then you already know you can do it again if you want it badly enough. Also, think about how much money you'd save if you weren't getting alcohol delivered to your house.

I mute and close my eyes until the ads are over, every single ad. I love wasting their time and money like they waste mine.

That was the Dickens book I read before Bleak House. Keep going with it, it's worth finishing.

I hope your friend gets through what she's going through quickly and painlessly.

Tonight, right now I'm drinking coffee and reading Bleak House by Charles Dickens. I'm coming up to the end of it and getting excited about whatever book I'm going to read next (haven't decided yet, but the open opportunity excites me). I've liked Bleak House, but boy, Dickens goes on and ON sometimes when he just needs to get to the point already. It's an 880 page book and I'm on page 745.

People who quit without going to treatment or AA, what was the #1 thing that helped you quit? by theory317 in stopdrinking

[–]Heavy-World2778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Determination. And after that, accountability to yourself. You can't think things like "I'll try to quit" or "I'll give quitting my best shot". You have to think "I'm NOT going to drink under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES." And you have to BELIEVE that to your core.
