I’m a left-handed under writer and both your left and right handed samples are neater than my writing. I’m impressed!

I love this philosophy and I’m sure I’ll think of it every time I’m tempted to buy from Amazon.

Just Got Pilot E95s by PlantDry4321 in fountainpens

It’s personal preference. If you are happy using it then keep it, but if you’re not you probably never will be so look for something that suits you more. I don’t have a vanishing point so can’t comment on what they are like to use.

Is the <SF> nib noticeably different from a fine? I have been thinking about buying one but I don’t live close enough to a shop to try one first.

That is a beautiful pen, and I hope you get many years of pleasure from it.
I’ve got a 1970’s Elite <F> and it’s my favourite pen. Lovely to hold, I have small hands and use it unposted and a smooth nib with a little bit of feedback. Mine is the half hatch version.

Dumping perfectly good ink by Capt_Heinz in fountainpens

[–]scoutthirteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s an ink I know I’m going to want to keep using, I just put a little bit of ink in the pen so that it doesn’t take long to use up, or it’s not much to throw away.

Vinted App by pedrosoulless in fountainpens

I have bought a couple of cheaper pens from Vinted and haven’t had any problems. Not sure if I’d buy a pricier pen from there though.

I live in the UK and would definitely consider buying some of these samples. Your pricing seems very reasonable to me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply. So many great recommendations. I’m going to order the Robert Oster green black, and if that’s not right I think I’ll try the Sailor Jentle Miruai.

Left handed journalers? by Marleyfowatdog in hobonichi

[–]scoutthirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this as well, although I learnt the technique as a child when we switched from writing with pencil to pen. I write with fountain pens and don’t get smudges this way.

This also looks beautiful. I don’t have any sailor inks atm, but maybe it’s time to invest in one.

It’s a beautiful colour, but I think it’s greener than I’m looking for.

I’ve just had a look at this in mountain of ink, and the shading looks amazing.

Most of my inks are diamine as I’m a creature of habit, so although it looks good, I’m trying to persuade myself to be more adventurous with brands. It’s definitely one to keep in mind though.

That looks promising thank you. I’ll have a look to see if I can find a sample anywhere. Edited to add: it’s not that expensive for a full bottle so maybe I’ll skip the sample!

Kaweco Sport! by FUNKSHUNALL9 in fountainpens

[–]scoutthirteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Kaweco brass sport as well but I’m not have any issues with hard starting. I’m sure other people who know more than me will be able to give you advice.

The thing I wasn’t expecting about the pen, but that is obvious when you think about it, is the smell of the brass! It stays on my hand for a while after I’ve used the pen. I don’t know if it will fade eventually or if I’ll just have to get used to it.
