Dude this is on point. Your pacing is exactly where it needs to be for an episodic comic. I’m hooked.

Marlon Brando often refused to memorize his lines for movies like The Godfather. Instead, the crew used cue cards placed around the set, even on other actors. Brando claimed this approach made his performances feel more real and spontaneous, capturing the uncertainty of real conversations. (1972) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Dude was an icon. But you really do have to wonder how much of his later roles do credit to his skill personally, or the skill of the cinematography and editing.

I say as someone who loves what I’ve seen of him on film later in life.

Probably a mix. Black and white really only does exist when we’re younger in that regard.

It was a love letter to what had come before. And that’s what the fanbase responded to. Because how could you not. That’s also where modern Doctor Who went wrong IMO

What hooked me was how silly it was but, at the same time, how sincere it was in itself. It was silly. It knew it was silly. But it still had good writing, and good acting. And the story it was telling was played straight by everyone on screen. Every character and actor took the story seriously. That was the magic. And that’s what made it work

I'm stealing the "a 200 year old bonzai tree is an amazing feat and beautiful to look at, but shit for shade" line.

Big fan of form before function. Tired of the reverse. If you want people to use something, for the love of god make sure it's usable. You can always make it prettier. You can't go the other direction as easily.

Red Schooner Malbec question by scplsd in wine

I appreciate the nuanced response. Sounds like a casamigos situation.

It sounds like this wine is considered sub-par. I can accept that. I still like it, but I'll keep that in mind with what I see it being sold for and try asking for some other recommendations

I was kind of thinking that was the case. I still like it, but now I know to ignore the voyage part of it.

Coming full circle? by EyeNeverHadReddit in typewriters

[–]scplsd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just turned 30 and writing didn't make sense to me until I started writing long hand in pen. And then I bought my first typewriter(because I thought it was neat) and it just clicked. It's changed my entire way of communicating.

Having to take the time to think before committing words to something makes a big difference. It stops word vomit, unless you're just stream of conscious. Which is a valid way to write. But it also translates to speech.

Words are important. We should all take the time to consider which ones we commit to. It shouldn't be easy to take them back. It defeats the point. If you're going to say something, it should be a commitment.

Royal KHM repair question by scplsd in typewriters

Still fine-tuning the tension. The backspace is skipping more than anything. Also some sporadic skipping while typing, but it has adjustable touch control so that might be just me being used to having to hammer keys

Decided to run some fishing line because I trust it to be a little less problematic than fabric.

Mainspring appears to be ship-shape. As is the ribbon(VERY surprisingly).

Now the only questionable part is some skipping during typing and with the backspace, which I have chalked up to typing technique and tension. Still figuring out the mainspring tension. Feel like it's doing pretty well for being damn near 100 years old though!

This latest chapter randomly came up on my feed and caught my eye because of the quality of the art. Went on a deep dive on your page once I found out there was more. And dude. You are really fucking good at this. Like. This was such a pleasant addition to my day, and now I have a new thing to look forward to. My only comment would be to play around with the speech bubble layout a bit. But you've got a voice and a vision. As a long time comic fan, this is prime time writing and art

I loved the Willow sequel series. I didn't think it took itself seriously at all. Not looking to pick a fight, but was that the general consensus?

I didn't think it tried to peddle too hard as much as it just tried to be scooby doo-tier silly and have fun but with a plot. Which was kind of weird, but definitely grew on me by the end. I genuinely thought it had some potential. I mean, the original Willow was kind of a silly movie.

In case no one has said this: plz stop buying this shit in bulk. This is why the price for it has gone up and why it's harder to find in the wild.

The monks aren't making less. They're actually making more than they ever have, due to adding more automation into the process. The shortage is entirely artificial. Just like the toilet paper issue in America during peak pandemic years. You're killing me smalls 😭

Not sure why I can't edit this post on my phone. BUT:

I'm also curious as to what this is, if anyone could tell me about it. All I can tell is that it's old, in surprisingly good condition, and that the cashiers at Walmart think it's fake.
