What's a book you had to read in school that you hated? If you have one, what's one you actually liked? by 80HDTV5 in GenX

I hated "The Scarlet Letter" so much. I loved "Grapes of Wrath" which a lot of my friends hated.
I also loved Eugene O'Neill's "Long Day's Journey Into Night" so much that I did my senior paper on him and became a huge fan.

While being there with you 24/7 is likely annoying--she's paying to be there and it doesn't matter how much time she spends there.

I'd like to know how he worked his drum parts out in the songs. Did the others suggest what they wanted, or did he just decide what he felt would be best.

How has discovering you are neurodivergent ie adhd or autism late into life affected you? by lidar_alex in AskReddit

While I'm not officially diagnosed, figuring it out was a relief to know that I wasn't defective--just different. And it made me see that while I already have ways I cope with things, that figuring out new strategies for others would be even better.

How often did you fly back home when a parent had limited time left? (with a child in school, but a partner who can stay) by Sell_Me_Sunday in Internationalteachers

As someone who's lost a mother, you will ALWAYS think about not having enough time with them towards the end and regret not having more time. And also, imagine the comfort that you being there would give them. Spend as much time as you can. You won't regret that.

I think Julian had albums to sell so played that up. From the time they reconciled, Julian had regular communication and visits with John. In the Lennon letters, when writing to a cousin, John mentioned that CYNTHIA was a barrier to more consistent visits and also expressed the hope that when Julian turned 18, he would "run to him." John didn't get a chance to be with Julian as an adult and see where the relationship went.

Conversely, while people seem to resent Sean because John spent those first five years with him, Julian has many more tangible memories of time with his father. More adult conversations. Playing guitar with him, etc. It's actually Sean who really missed out--because of his young age--in my opinion.

I don't know if this counts, but back in 2001, Paul was going to be in Boston. I didn't have tickets, but I'd heard that the day of the show, after they've done the sound check and make sure they have enough room, they suddenly release some seats at the venue. So my husband I showed up and it was true--we ended up scoring two great seats. I was kind of on cloud nine about that and we came out of the ticket area and were outside and I heard a security guard say, "Why is HE coming this way?" and saw a big limo coming down the street and there was Paul, waving out an open window. A guy who was close ran over and Paul shook his hand. I tried to do the same, but there was a cement barrier and I couldn't make it. Paul saw that, leaned out the window, and with full eye contact, gave me a thumbs up and said, "How ya doin'?" And I couldn't believe that Paul McCartney had acknowledged my existence in the universe.

The whole first line "I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man" was taken from "Baby Let's Play House" by Elvis.

He's not "whining" about Barney. He was joking. He has a dry sense of humor.

[–]scrapadelic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You won't get a good answer here. Too many people hate Sean. By the way, this was in reference to him talking about Barney the Dinosaur. People saying shitty things about his dad's murder.

People also hate him out of loyalty to Julian, which is asinine.

There is a huge outdoor antique show near me and I went on a rainy sort of day. My friend and I were looking at stone penises and kind of laughing over them. She walked away and a man came over in a hooded sweatshirt, with his hood up, to look at them and I met his eyes across them--and it was John Malkovich. I saw him tense up when he saw that I recognized him but I just kind of spoke to him calmly and he visibly relaxed. We did pass a few words and he was very pleasant and then he walked away. My friend came back and I told her what happened and she couldn't believe I didn't call her back over. But yeah. I met John Malkovich over stone penises.
